Haha, I suppose so. I seem to get into debates with other people unintentionally lol

As far as dreams go, that’s your perspective. Life seems to be oriented around perception. What we think is reality is what reality truly is for us.

I didn’t say that compiling facts sorts out what’s true and what’s not. I said that the compilation of facts sets what we define as facts. While they can’t be proven, it’s what we associate as true to essentially stay sane and follow some form of regulations. If a multitude of people favor one idea, in that the majority believes one aspect, then that one aspect becomes true in a way in which it becomes accepted, regardless of whether or not it can be definitively proven.

If we are all born within a society in which we are susceptible to it, then there will already be established facts. We learn from society in a way in which we are influenced and taught to behave a certain way, something that initiates similarities amongst individuals. Those similarities could transfer into similar, but not identical thoughts. As we base our opinions and viewpoints on a composition of deductive and inductive reasoning, we might formulate our thoughts using similar deductive and inductive reasoing strategies as someone else.

Society determines facts, and this is because people want order and regulation. How do lies factor into this? Life is based on perception, but perception is shaped by society and society is controlled (to different degrees) by a few people. Supposing that someone has convinced society to behave in a certain way, and never to share, even think certain thoughts. (think 1984). Then wouldn’t the deductive process, order and all that, be harmed?

Fwiw, I don’t like the idea that society conditions your thoughts. It seems very constricting to me–I like the idea of sharing thoughts but also of being free to make judgments for yourself. Also eliminates the possibility of manipulation.

No, use the :/eek: without the /.
There’s a button at the bottom of the reply to post page that says Smilies are on. You can see the smilies from there.

Well, if we are born into a society with already established invalid facts, we may interpret them as valid.

If a few individuals were enabled to convince the majority of society to believe one certain component, then future generations would in turn also believe that component as valid. By ensuring that the individuals that compose society are ignorant, then ultimately any few powerful individuals who possess the true knowledge would be able to dictate those individuals. We are susceptible to society, in that we rely and trust on what we are told. We give a certain amount of ethos to society leaders. If those leaders felt compelled to abuse their authority, the majority of individuals would likely believe them, as we would have already embedded a certain degree of reliability towards those authorities.

I don’t either:/ There are negative and positive aspects associated with society. If only we could identify and establish what is truly valid.

^^APPLAUSE is in order.
Check out the bb code link, too. It’s awesome!!

^ This is why I did not discuss interaction, only perception and imagination. If you choose to believe other people, you do so at your own peril. Perception is for those who believe entirely in science/physical evidence/cold hard facts. Imagination I included as what perception would be if thoughts were the only things that existed.
