The early decision this year was pushed back a few days into December. I tried to make the cut off but my day took to long to go through. Early decision acceptance deadline was January 30th. It’s now February 14th. I’m assuming my deadline is February 28th (December 30th deadline). I’m an honors student (16 honors classes taken), played varsity soccer all 4 years, run track, participate in mini-thon, help with the school, have volunteer hours, and I am in national honors society. My gpa is 4.26 and my sat score was 1790. Why haven’t they contacted me yet? Am I a reasonable candidate to be accepted? I have 13 days until the acceptance deadline and I’m freaking out!
Why would you freak out before the acceptance deadline? Why would you expect a decision 13 days ahead of time? At least wait until 2/29 to freak out. Or just be patient. Since they were late with some of the priority decisions, they may be late with the next phase, too. As long as the portal is showing that nothing is outstanding, all anyone can do is wait.
There is no “early decision” at Penn State. The PRIORITY deadline was November 30th. After that it’s kind of whenever they have time to get to you, since there are people who applied before the priority deadline who are still waiting (or there were, last time I checked. They got 11,000 applications on Nov. 30 alone.)
Your GPA is good so I wouldn’t be too worried, but then again spots start to fill up after the priority deadline passes.
I know at our school most student apply in September as soon as applications opens. Most will hear by December. The later you apply the longer it takes to hear. I would say the are waiting until some people refuse admittance, opening more spots for them to offer. unfortunately, you just have to be patient. It stinks. good luck!
