I banking

I am a UCLA student graduating with a triple major. My gpa is about a 3.3. What chance do I have to get into investment banking.

If I want to go into i-banking would it be wiser to just accept a job offer from Fisher investments in their investment associate program and then after two years of experience try again.

Even with the triple major, most ibanks and competitive jobs automatically cull the resume stack at a 3.5 gpa. They must do this because they usually get 200 resume drops for 2 positions. I'd try to look for a boutique ibank that isn't quite as competitive when it comes to jobs/internships.

Get in touch with alum from your school and newtork your a$$ off. It is def. possible to get an offer from a top bank with a 3.3 GPA.

If this if for FT, it will be very difficult since most of the bulges are done... but I still encourage you to target BBs, middle market...

Lazard Brothers is a good boutique. Hmm, 3.3 from UCLA.. that means more than a 3.5 from any State School or say UCSB, UCD, etc.

Investment banking isn't really about grades, I think it's more about the long hours you put in and your ability to do many, many things at once. If you don't tank, they you've succeeded. Make sure you include your GPA concern in your Cover Letter and give it a positive spin: "Although my GPA is ... I still managed to keep 3 jobs, finish 3 degrees, things like that" that will make the IBank recruit you.

Take summer classes or something to raise the GPA too
