I Can Answer Your Questions!

Hi!

I'm a current freshman at Haverford AND I'm on fall break (which means I have lots of time).

So,

fire away!

Hey woohoo, please give me your opinion on my chances at Haverford:
Chances for Early Decision Please
Male

New England Public High School That sends ~20% to HYPSM, top LAC's, Ivies, etc (EXTREMELY good reputation)

SAT I: 2100; 690 CR, 710 M, 700 W
SAT II: 730 Chemistry, 800 Math II

AP: Biology 5

GPA: 3.98 Unweighted (3 Honors/year-Most Rigorous Courseload Possible)
*School does NOT Rank (I think I'm top 5% though) or do Weighted GPA or have AP courses (we have Honors)

Extracurriculars:
-4 Years of Class Committee
-50 Hours of Community Service
- 4 Years of Varsity Cross Country (State Team Champion), and I'm the CAPTAIN
-3 Years of Varsity Winter Track (State Qualifier), and I'm the CAPTAIN
-3 Years of Varsity Spring Track (State Qualifier), and I'm the CAPTAIN
-4 Weeks of Foreign Language Program in Spain, Summer After Junior Year (Got a Full Scholarship)
-4 Years of School Chorus

Essays:
-Pretty darn good, but not amazing

Recommendations:
-Absolutely Amazing

Basically, I want to go to Haverford College because of its honor code; I seem to live by the same rule and truly believe in it. I'm very self-motivated, and I have morals.

Thanks in advance.

Ok, I'm really not qualified to do the whole chances thing, but I can post my stats and why I think I got in.

White Jewish Girl from the East Coast

2/220 at a mediocre (at best) inner city public school
Something really close to a 4.0 for GPA

660R
690W
700M

610 French
590 Math I

IB Diploma (so hardest course load)

Really phenomenal recommendations
Really phenomenal essays

The best interview

EC:

I tutored second graders at a local elementary school for 1.5 hours a week since 9th grade

Government club at school since 10th grade

Taught sex education to middle schoolers as a junior and senior (and got paid!)

Worked in a lab at a local university as a junior and senior.

I think I got into Haverford for two reasons
1)I was really able to show why I wanted to be at Haverford. I had clear and thoughtful reasons that I was able to articulate during my interview and in the honor code essay.

2)My essays were really good. Good essays go looong way and can make up for crappy test scores.

It looks like you have as good a chance as any to get in. A better chance then I had for sure. I would work on you essays and make them show who you are and why Haverford fits you.

Good luck!

thanks a lot

if your still taking questions
can you describe the student body at haverford?
what are the students like, what do they do for fun, etc.
