I was admitted!!!
dances
I was just checking minerva to see if my transcript had been received...and the system status said: Admitted pending final results! After crying a bit So, now to get back to hard work. color=gray[/color]
Good luck to the rest of you!

CONGRATS! Canadian citizens find out sooner right? Also, before the acceptance did you have any clue?

Thanks Jimmy!
No, absolutely none! I knew that the decisions were on a rolling basis from March 9th onwards (for Canadians) but I'd had some trouble with my transcripts (due to the fact that I've moved a lot) and was just checking to see if it was received because I'd asked my GC to resend the transcript. This was completely out of the blue (I was expecting an e-mail or something to at least acknowledge the decision was ready). Anyway, I have Vocal Jazz practice now...so Good luck to the Canadians and Intls awaiting decisions!

congrats! did they notify anything about scholarships?

Congratulations!!! :D:D:D

damn...lol, not yet for me

anyways...CONGRUATIONS applesatyr !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've just recieved an e-mail informing me that a decision has been made...so I guess that they post your decision then send the letters outafterwards....anyway, thanks everybody! Does anyone know what date you have to accept or reply by (eg. May 1st for most unis in the US)?

Congratulations!!! My daughter is a sophomore at McGill and she loves it. Big school with lots of opportunities but don't ever hesitate to ask for help or tutoring if you need it - it's so easy to get behind.

congrats applesatyr! I'm beginning to get really ansy. I hate being an Ontario student - we have to wait until mid-April. I'm so envious of all of you who've made it. Seriously, congratualations. If you decide to go, I'm sure you'll love it. I just visited a few days ago and I had a blast. I really can't wait to go..if I get in, that is. Although, for all you American students, why is it that Mcgill has such a big rep in the States?

bittersweet28, have you received your decision from Queen's yet? Commerce there has something like an 8% acceptance rate, so if you got in, CONGRATULATIONS.

I think it's mostly because there are FAR more US students at McGill than anywhere else. The numbers I once saw were something like 2,500 US students at McGill and only 1,000 US students at all other Canadian colleges combined. Americans don't know of any other schools for the most part. McGill and Montreal are very accepting of international students - they make it easy to apply and get accepted. It's like the Worlds Fair never left. Also, Montreal is close for New Englanders and it seems like they use McGill like their state school (because its better than New England state schools too). A lot of French Canadians have immigrated to New England.

No, I actually haven't been accepted to Queen's commerce yet. They're still waiting to recieve my interim marks. This waiting is driving me crazy though. But the cut-off for both Queens commerce and Mcgill's faculty of management are 89% or 90%, so shouldn't their competitiveness be comparable? See, I'm hearing everywhere that Queen's commerce is really great and that Queen's is really competitive and everything, which I do realize, but I'm getting really mixed reviews I guess of McGill's faculty of management. Some people say that it's really good and that lots of its students win lots of national awards and everything, and yet Queen's still seems to have the bigger rep, or at least in Canada. Although I do also realize the rep that McGill has with Americans and that's sort of where I'm hoping to go afterwards, so..I'm really confused.

mcgill's reputation is world known, and its considered up there with some of the best schools in the States... thats why so many American's choose to come here, it's reputation, it's location, and it's price, and of course the quality education.

i got in too, but i cant go. there is no film program. i dont know why.

yeah. but concordia has a great film school!
where else did you apply?

i already looked into it, and its hard to take classes at both, especially when the majority of the classes you wanna take are actually at concordia.

i have been accepted to NYU Tisch (film school), BU School of Communications, Hampshire C., Binghamton U., and Vassar C.

waiting to hear from Brown, Columbia and Cornell.

i'd choose NYU. my friend is a film major @ Tisch there and loves it!
Vassar is also great... i almost went to both schools... vassar is very beautiful!

congrats.. which faculty ?

if it were you, would you honestly pick McGill's faculty of management or Queen's commerce? would it be more or less the school and its reputation that puts Mcgill ahead of Queen's?

i dont agree with u... queen's commerce has an excellent reputition and that is reflected in their extremely high entrance requirements compared to McGill's mediocre entrance requirements.

I would definitely pick queens

no, I agree that Queen's definately has a better commerce program. I'm not sure what the requirement is for Americans, but for an Ontario student at least the requirements are about the same. The reason why I'd choose McGill over Queen's is because of the large city and the reputation McGill has in the States and internationally. I don't think it's much a dispute that Queen's commerce is better than McGill's. I just don't know if that's enough of a factor, personally, to choose Queen's over McGill.
