Duke, Vandy, Cornell (yes, thats right cornell 2011), Northwestern, Wash U, Case, Ohio State

^^^

You've proven nothing aside from the fact that you are stupid.....for going to ND.

And, how do I even know you're telling the truth....

How do we know that you are telling the truth?

^^^

what?

cornell2011: notre dame AL is simply asking how we know that you are telling the truth about going to cornell.

the point is that no one knows if anyone on these boards is telling the truth. were you really too dense to understand that?

I chose ND over Cornell, Boston College, Holy Cross, Northwestern, Harvard, Yale, Oxford, NYU, UCLA, Villanova, University College Dublin, Emory, SLU, Duke, The University of Minnetonka, and Westchester Community College.

Ok, so, maybe technically, I didn't apply to most of these schools. But, in any event, in a closed set where you can only choose one from the set of all universities extant in the world, I did choose ND over all of these. Because I didn't apply to most of these, it would be negligent (and rather self-deprecating) of me to assume I would be rejected from all these.

In any event, this thread doesn't really prove anything except a reaction to... umm... other discussions being held. I've always found discussions like these to be nothing more than an excuse for people to brag about where they were accepted (no offense to anyone involved, this usually happens subconsciously. And frankly, who doesn't like to brag?) Everyone chooses a school for their own reasons, and, in the long run, comparative rankings are usually pretty irrelevant. If you're happy, you're happy.

Oh, for reference, I was actually accepted at 4 of those schools. Have fun guessing which ones (Community College has to accept you, so don't count that one).

Fine, Cornell 2011, you caught me.

I actually got wait-listed at WashU. All the other ones are real though.

To tell you the truth, while Cornell is viewed by most (including me) as a better school than Notre Dame with regard to academics and "the name," I was not impressed at all by the student body at Cornell nor the feeling of the entire campus. It has a place nicknamed "Suicide Falls" for a reason-wayyyyyy too competitive. Notre Dame is no pushover either, but in the long run, who cares what school name you have on your diploma as long as you enjoy your 4 years and get whatever acceptance into grad school/med school or job you want.

It came down to Duke and Notre Dame in the end. Cornell was never considered after I applied last November. It had more of a "your lucky to get in here, are you good enough?" feeling, whereas Notre Dame was a "how can we convince you to come here, we really want you."

You're entitled to your opinion but why come on ND message boards when you can just go on Cornell boards?
