I'm a music student, going to Rice for double bass next year. I also got into Boston University, Indiana University, and Peabody.

UT plan II
Case Western full tuition
Baylor full ride
University of Pittsburgh full ride
got in ED so had to cancel all the other apps

UT is an awesome school esp with its honor programs. True its huge but along with its size comes the abundant amount of resource and faculty. Most of my friends are going there, so I'll be visiting lots =)
Austin is a better city than Houston hands down.

rice/baylor over harvard, stanford, MIT

Rice over Case Western, UGA Honors, and Southern Cal spring admission
If you count waitlists: UChicago and WashU.

I chose Rice.

Didn't fill out any other applications. I trashed the ones I had waiting to fill out: Yale, Northwestern, Southwestern, and UT.

I'm looking at Rice and UChicago. For those that chose Rice over UChiacago, can you elaborate on why? Your major would be helpful too. Thanks :)

I come from Chicago, and I love the city, but I decided to go to Rice this coming year. I was ranked #1 in my class (700+) tied with this other chick. She went to UChicago and I went to Rice. Both are great schools, don't get me wrong. However, UChicago is the place "where fun comes to die." That was not the kind of college experience I wanted to have, I mean few do. The quality of life and happiness of the student body seemed a lot bttr at Rice. The residential college system at Rice is an especially sweet deal. I know I'm a bit biased. UChicago is a great school, and it has the perk of being in the best damn town in the world, baby!

But remember, Chicago will always be the second fattest city, next to Houston, of course. Don't worry, I don't understand my metaphor either! Just thought it was a fun fact!

over Northwestern, Hopkins, and Vanderbilt.

over uc berkeley, cal poly san luis obispo, carnegie mellon.

(architecture major)

Over Texas A&M (bleh), UT, Northwestern and Notre Dame.
