What are the consequences of receiving less than a C in Finance? I believe I did not perform well on the midterm. Would less than a C in Finance mean I am out of Kelley with no chance to redeem myself?

I wouldn’t worry about it too much right now. Last Fall, 831 students took F370; only 14 got less than a solid C or withdrew from it. The odds are in your favor that you will get a C or above. Less than two percent didn’t last Fall.

If you don’t get a C in finance, you will have to take it over. If you get C or higher in the other Icore classes, you will only have to retake F370.

If you check the Icore syllabus, you will find that the mid term and final count for less of your semester grade in finance than in any other Icore course – I think only about fifty percent of your grade. So make sure you get 100% on the professionalism/attendance, or whatever they call it, and it will help your overall score tremendously. The case report will likely bring your grade up too, as the average will probably be in the low eighty percent range.

If it makes you feel any better LizzyB, I just spoke to my daughter who took that mid-term today too. She said it was the hardest test she’d ever taken. She was reassured that every single person she spoke to agreed it was ridiculously hard. bthomp, thanks for the info. I’ll pass it along to my daughter. Fingers crossed…

Thank you for both replies. I thought I was prepared and was unpleasantly surprised by the difficulty of the test. I had received conflicting info regarding whether I could just retake Finance or would have to repeat ICore so I am much relieved to hear this, thanks bthomp. Tulure, I hope both your daughter and I did better than we thought. Bring on the curve!

DS2 may have a chance to take I-Core in his 4th semester. Is it a good idea?

What are the disadvantages taking this course with mostly Juniors? Would Sophomores be able to fit in? There are so many interesting/practical courses to take after I-core in junior and senior years. Is it worth to squeeze in the prerequisites in the coming summer and the 3rd semester?

In order to do so, he will need to take:

Summer: E201, E370, L201 in another IU campus (hopefully less harsh)

Fall 2012: A202 or A207, X202, C205 (previously X205), G202 + higher level N&M

He has done with other GenEd and probably will be wasting time waiting for the 5th semester.
