I-Day

haha it was only a playful suggestion, I hadnt really thought about arrival time yet... hmmmm

that's all i took it as :)

darn...what if they are getting our tickets and we stay the night? we really don't have much choice about what time to get there, do we? I guess at this point, that is the least of my concerns...

You would probably be staying the night at a B&B family who will know to take you later, unless you tell them otherwise.

does B&B info come in the 2nd packet after appt acceptance?

go here, af16
http://www.usafa.org/event/BedandBreakfast_appointeeinfo.aspx

I think having my parents with me helped calm down, I would have been going crazy if they didn't come. Plus it was just nice to give them one last hug.

thanks missmuff... ;-)

I came by myself to I-day, but for different reasons. I honestly wasn't emotional saying goodbye to my parents... I was actually pretty excited to come. However, the morning of I-day, I was so nervous I almost puked and I was shaking really bad all the way up to the hill. Personally, I wanted to be by myself with my own thoughts that morning. Also, if you go by yourself, you can do the B&B and have a couple of built-in inprocessing buddies that make the day a bit easier.

And definitely take hornet's advice... go later rather than earlier in that 4-hour arrival time frame. You'll either just be standing around getting yelled at (fun, fun :)) or running around with everything you own in your left hand and basically being miserable. It's exciting.

Don't go right when it opens, but go pretty early. I waited till a little later, and due to a few other problems, created quite a mess for myself. I'm sure this will be discussed more closer to I-day though.

Also, be careful who you get for B&B. redhead was so lucky as to have the same family that I had (who I still keep in contact with). So that was fun, especially since the Col was as mischievous as me in scaring the redheaded one! :) :) I am everywhere! mwahahaha!

"Be careful who you get for B&B"?? Are you talking about the family? (Are you just joking--sorry if I missed the humor)--I didn't think you had a say in the B&B program?? Hornetboy you make me worry!

nope, you do not get a say (about which family you get). And I'm not joking either. Of all the different combination, redhead got the same family as me!

Hornetboy? you're killin' me.

Let's just say that I found my reputation had preceded me when I got to my B&B sponsors the night before inprocessing! :)

But some day I am going to find a way to pay hornet back for all of his...generousity. ha!

OOPS!! So sorry!! LOL!! I did NOT change your moniker on purpose! :) ....maybe soon you'll be a "hornetman"?

Now go study! (Thanks for the info :) )

I was nervous on I-day. I did puke at my B&B sponsor's house. I felt bad about that one... Actually, I felt a lot better after that. Nerves, I hate them sometimes!

Eh, hornet___, it still makes sense.

The family you get for B&B usually becomes your sponsor family after Basic is over. At least mine did. I don't talk to them, though. We just fell out of touch.

Get up for it, 2012!!

Do you current cadets have any advice on what to do? not to do? bring? for prospective cadets?

It's been mentioned on many previous threads, do a search through and you'll see stuff.

For me, my B&B family, doolie day out, AND current sponsor family are all different.

check this out, duke
