I desperately need help deciding what to do.

I’m have a big issue with deciding what to do with my life and what to do about college

I’ve so far been accepted into:

  • SF State
  • Fresno
  • CSUMB

CSUMB has offered me good financial aid (and is super close to my home) but I’ve heard bad things about them.

SF and Fresno has yet to offer me aid because I haven’t had the chance to turn in some papers which is stopping this process. I’m currently waiting on my parents tax transcript before I can mail in to those colleges.

The issue is, confirm enrollment for all those CSUs is May 1st and I’m worried I won’t know how much financial aid I’m gonna get/get papers in on time before I have to confirm.

I’m a bit lost what to do, but these are the possibilities:

  • CSUMB
  • CSU then transfer to UC
  • CC then transfer to UC

Any help is appreciated.

that’s a tough puzzle. financial aid isn’t my specialty but, my understanding is that CSUs tend to give similar grants for tuition but, don’t usually give aid for room and board. At this stage, each of the schools should be to give you a feel for your net price to attend. Your parents should have enough info to fill in the form now.

If finances are tight, living on/near SF or Fresno may not be feasible and Monterrey may be your only option.

You shouldn’t be confirming enrollment at multiple schools. You would be taking a spot from someone on a waitlist. Some schools may rescind you if you deposit at 2 schools.

I’m defiently not doing that, I was just stating that the deadline to confirm enrollment for the CSUs is mainly May 1st for most of them.

It is May 1 at pretty much every US college. What is holding up the tax form? You are way behind on applying for aid and probably will just have to take the college you know is affordable.

If your goal is to transfer and if you would be commuting to MB then it’d make sense for you to go the CC=>UC route.

It’s much easier to transfer to a UC from a CC than from a CSU. So take the second option off the table. Talk with your parents about what they can afford. If money is very tight the best option might be MB.
