Is this normal? For Stanford or any other University
Have any of you had a similar experience, adding a college to your list last minute & realizing it was a perfect fit?

Stanford’s been my first choice for a looooong time. Regardless, you made a good first choice!

That is definitely not normal at all… After all, if you can change your mind so easily, then what will you think come May 1st?

Well, the thing is I had never considered anywhere out West before b/c I had never visited until a few months ago. So after looking into academics, social life, clubs, atmosphere, weather, courses etc etc & writing the supplements, it felt like a perfect fit if that makes any sense lol.

I don’t see anything wrong with it.
If something is right for you, it’s going to be right for you no matter when you discover it.

I really know how you feel. All throughout my high school life, I never really did anything for college applications, just for self-gratification I suppose? But then I visited Stanford this summer and fell in love. There is just something about that place that omg can’t even explain. I know it’s weird because a lot of people enter into high school, knowing that Stanford is the place for them and work so hard for it and truly are exceptional, but I just recently found it to be so so amazing. I have sub-par academic stats I suppose, ( 3.85 UW, 2170), but I have truly dedicated my life to EC’s( like everyone else here too hahaha)… so we’ll see what happens! ALL THE BEST!:)

I think it’s fine. Stanford was a close second for me, and then I got in. It took a couple of days, but now Stanford is my first choice by a landslide.

Stanford’s just one of those schools that the more you learn about it the more you love it.

I didn’t even consider Stanford until part way through my senior year. But part of that may have been that when I entered high school I did not think that I was going to do as well as I did. Then when I looked at everything that I did I realized I stood a good chance at getting into Stanford.

This is not typical though, most people here knew that Stanford was their first choice by mid way through junior year at the latest, there are a lot of people here who had Stanford as their first choice school for quite some time.

It’s pretty much a school that grows on you just as mfed said. I never thought I would apply, and now I’ve grown so attached to it.
