It looks like a lot of people on this forum and my classmates in school are receiving scholarship notices. However, I have yet to hear back from Rutgers about any money they can award me.

I'm really worried. I worked hard throughout my high school career, taking very rigorous courses. And my friends who are of lower academic standing in my school have already gotten their scholarships. (At my school, A LOT of people end up getting some sort of money from RU) I'd be really disappointed if I didn't at least get some money.

Should I call them up? or should I just wait and see?

PS: I've already submitted all of my materials and have been accepted into 2/3 of the Rutgers programs I've applied to.

Scholarships are not released all at once, so you may still receive a notification at some point. Calling would be a waste of both your and the admissions office’s time.

Did you submit all your materials before December 1st and completed the essay? Also, what were your standardized test scores? These scores and GPA are the primary criteria used in determining scholarships.

Yep the Rutgers essay on the application. I have known of people in the past who didn’t write the essay since it is not mandatory for admission. It IS mandatory for merit scholarship consideration, however.

Another thing to consider is that scholarships are awarded based on which schools you are accepted to, so the more competitive schools like Engineering and Pharmacy may have more stringent scholarship criteria or may be taking a bit longer to determine scholarships.

I honestly don’t know, but I can say that when I applied three years ago, they started notifications in late December and I know people who were still notified in late January, so maybe this year since they started notifications in January they may still be going into February. Only a guess though.

Got accepted at School of arts and sciences ( Computer Science major )

School of engineering still in progress … ( Electrical and Computer Engineering )

Strangely my application status dosent show my Major . Just the school . So they,re just admitting you to the school , Major can change anytime ???

I get that all scholarships don’t go out at once, but I think it’s a bit ridiculous for you to immediately assume you are going to get a scholarship. Think of scholarships as a reward, not something you instantly deserve. For reference, I got a 2130 SAT, 33 ACT, and have a 3.8 GPA and I was offered $3,500 a year from Arts and Sciences and the School of Business.

I think a lot of great students don’t get offered anything, or get offered very little. Awards seem lower this year. Maybe they are trying to distribute the same amount of money to more people. Who knows.
