I applied to MCS and SCS and i just saw the requirements yesterday, but they didn't send me anything telling me I was missing something while Cornell emailed / snail mailed what I was missing ages ago.

Are they actually 100% required or does it just really really hurt my chances?

lol ^ dont sweat it. be like me, expect a rejection. haha.
im missing a science SAT2, and i applied to CIT, and i think im gona be rejected o.o or they'll place me somewhere else if i get in.
we're likely to expect a rejection because there are many other qualified students who have those test scores =P

From what I remember at a presentation during sleepover weekend, the Dean of Asmissions said that not taking the required SAT tests would NOT be an automatic rejection. I would think that it would be a hurdle that other parts of your application would need to make up for. Afterall, CMU is a very technical school with a focus on science and math and loads of qualified applicants.

Yeah since there is not much you can do, better not sweat it. It will affect your chances but they look at the whole application. and your Sat ! MAth aint bad. you still gotta shot.
Good Luck!
