I just got this email at 6:05 today...just as I was regretting not submitting an application!!! Did anyone else recieve this??

Dear (my name),

We see from the Common Application website that you have started or attempted to submit your Stanford application. Though the deadline has passed, we will allow prospective students to submit both the Common Application and the Stanford Supplement by January 3rd at 11:59 pm (Pacific Time) in order to complete the application process. If you do not complete the application process by that time, we will assume that you are not applying to Stanford.

To check the submission status for each component of your application, log on to your Common Application and click on the "Stanford University" link in the "My Colleges" section. If you have successfully submitted all required forms, this section will indicate that your Common Application and Supplement have been submitted. Please be sure to check that both the Common Application and the Stanford Supplement have been submitted. An email from either the Common Application or Sallie Mae does not indicate that your application has been successfully submitted.

If you experienced any problem with your credit card payment submission this weekend, you simply need to go back to the Common Application website and select the pay by check option and then submit your Common Application and Stanford Supplement. You do NOT have to submit a check if you have already paid by credit card. We will reconcile the credit card/check issue on this end.

We hope you do decide to apply, and we look forward to reading your application.

Is it too good to be true!!! I seriously was bummed about not applying…and then I get this. Except on the common app it still shows 1/1/10…so I’m desperately searching for verification =)

That doesn’t surprise me. It is in Stanford’s interest to receive your application. They are not going to be doing anything until Monday. And even then they probably will just be doing administrative work next week to gather together all the documents.

They can not waiver about the deadline on their website because some students will take that as an invitation to continually procrastinate.

Yup, I got the same e-mail, too! I was going to not bother, but now I guess I’ll give it a shot.
Anyone want to take a look at my Stanford essay? (Since I now have another day to finish working on it :P)
Shoot me a PM if you want to quickly read it & (hopefully) suggest a thing or two for it!

That’s frustrating. I submitted my application a few days ago without revising my essays as much as I would have liked because I didn’t want to wait until the last minute and I had a couple other apps to finish up as well. Turns out I could have waited and put more thought into it.

I feel the same way with 112358. Because I waited until the Jan 1 deadline, two of my essays in my supplement did not get sent. But I know that I am the idiot for waiting until the last minute and sending in a flawed application. I will try to e-mail them as soon as Jan. 3 hits so hopefully I can work something out. =

I believe this is totally unfair on the part of Stanford. On one side, they try to be strict and on other they show their tender leniency. Wow, hypocrisy?

seriously… i went balls out and stayed up all night doing apps because they were apparently so strict about it. there’s a lot of improvement that can be made with two extra days… ughh, although i feel for the people who were late, i think it’s wayyy unfair

2 more days would have been nice. But I probably would have waited to 11 pm on the 3rd before i started revising anything. I’m just happy it’s all over. :)

eh i didn’t get the email! is the email only sent to those who submitted after the deadline? I submitted 1 day before the deadline so it’s confirmed on time, and didn’t receive the email.

I think Stanford should have announced this at least 2 days prior to the original deadline, so as not to disadvantage those who scrambled to get theirs in on time.

To all the people who are boiling over with righteous indignation, chill. It’s highly likely that Stanford takes the time of submission into consideration when deciding an admission, meaning those of us who received an extra two day grace period are probably gonna get slammed down. Hard.

I have a terrible, sneaking suspicion that this just Stanford’s way of making more money/making themselves seem more exclusive, and they’ll just end up putting all the late applications into the shredder T_T
