I don't think my teacher uploaded my final grade w/ final exam included.

The title pretty much says it all. My Calc & Analytical Geometry professor has not yet uploaded my final grade for the course. We use a website for the course (Pearson / MyMathLab) where I could check my grades. Well, she had the course, on that website, end before the actual course ended in class. A week prior to the last day of class, I checked my grade and that grade stuck until the day of me losing access to checking grades online, which was 2 days after taking my final exam (I took it earlier than the rest of the class).

I know I got at least a 95% on the exam, so the final grade should have at least been bumped up a little bit. But it hadn’t moved at all and I can’t check my grade at all. Now, 2 days after the final grades are supposed to be uploaded to my account on the school website, there is nothing there regarding the grade for the class. I have tried emailing her from 2 emailing platforms my school uses, but she is not responding to them. I can text her, but I find it may be inappropriate to text a professor after the course is over. I am considering contacting the math chair for my school to try to find something out.

Is that the correct next step for me to take?

Rant time - This professor has been the worst professor I have had. She was not personable, she was difficult to contact, she procrastinated more than a lazy college student, and showed who her favorites were in the class. Overall, I was unimpressed with her teaching style and ability, and it definitely impacted my grade in the beginning. I had to teach myself the majority of the course due to her lack of teaching. Half the questions the class asked, she didn’t know the answer to and could not prove the ones she answered.

Anybody?

What’s the deadline for the grades to be recorded? You should be able to check your final grade on your college dashboard where you pay for school and register.

If you’re going to challenge the final grade with the math department head, make sure you have a copy of your final exam in hand, and DON’T talk about the fact that you didn’t like the teacher. That will get you absolutely nowhere. Just focus on the number issue.

MotherOfDragons - The deadline was Sunday night (Aug. 7th), but no grade has been posted. How would I be able to get a copy of the exam if she is not responding to any of my emails?

You’d need the final exam to prove that your final grade should be raised. If you can’t prove you got the 95, you are SOL.

I generally do a screen shot for the online classes once they’re nearly done, to prevent any wacky changes that may occur and to have proof if they do.

Are you in Florida? Your course title suggested that to me.

I would NOT let any more time go by. Go to the math chair and then the Dean of Students if necessary, asap, before the grades post.

As suggested by MotherofDragons - I would stay FACTUAL. I would not insert any editorial comments.

This is easier to address now, than a month or two from now when memories get fuzzy.

SouthFloridaMom9 - No ma’am, I am in Ohio! Update! I contacted her, she forgot to get my test from the campuses testing center before she left for vacation. She will update it as soon as she can.

^^phew, thank goodness!! Great job on the follow-up.
