I feel like a failure. Transfer advice please!

I slacked off a ton in high school and ended up with around a 3.5 GPA. I was accepted to a few UCs, but none of the ones I believed were worth going to... So I went to a community college instead, with hopes to transfer into Cal or UCLA (my top 2 picks), or maybe even Stanford? I'm currently in the Honors program at my CCC, I have a 3.4 GPA (estimated, since my grades for this sem haven't come out yet)... I slacked off my first year, feeling hopeless. Finally got it together this year.. am I too late? I really dread that I won't be able to transfer to a top UC with my GPA. I have one semester left before I send in my application.. is all hope lost for these colleges? Can anyone advise me on how I can make myself more competitive? I am SO scared, everyone. Thanks so much for reading, I really appreciate it.

Major: Business, hope to minor in English
GPA: 3.4+
Pre-Reqs/IGETC: Complete by the end of next sem
Transfer Programs: None
School: Evergreen Valley College
EC’s: Honors Program at my school… nothing much else… I’m in trouble here.
Work: None…

The transfer counselors at your CCC are much better prepared to advise you on your specific chances at these particular institutions than are any of us. Make an appointment for next week. Go talk with them. They know who from your CCC has been admitted where and with what grades/courses.

Good luck!

I wouldn’t waste money on Stanford if I were you. Nothing personal, but their admissions rate for transfers hovers around < 2%

Your gpa is way too low for ucla and cal for an impacted major like business. Also your lack of ECs doesn’t help. Trying to get into top business schools requires leadership activities shown on your transcript.

@Cupertino
Yeah, I kinda figured… thanks anyway

@east
Thanks, I’ve been reading a bunch of the threads and you’re right.

@happymom
Thanks so much, yep, I already made a counselor’s appointment.
