I feel like a keynotes speaker.

I know it's hard to put college decisions into perspective...I've worked all winter to stop obsessing over my decision letter - which more likely than not will be a rejection - but I think I've finally beat it. I'm in the last few months of high school and I've sublimated my anxiety into convincing all my nerd friends who've never played sports to join the jv tennis team for the first time with me, I decided on a whim to learn indian classical dance for my school's IASA show (I'm hispanic, not indian, hahah), and tonight's closing night for the spring musical that I'm playing in the pit for... I'm busier and happier than I've been all year and I wanted to share that with the people that I see obsessing on these forums. you've spent four years worrying and studying! get involved! spring sports only started last week!

so with twelve days until D-day, I remembered this article I read in the paper when I was fourteen. my older brother had just been rejected from harvard and matriculated at the michigan state honors college.

<a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/29/nyregion/nyregionspecial2/29Rparenting.html?_r=1&scp=1&sq=harvard%20alumni%20interview&st=cse%5B/url%5D">http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/29/nyregion/nyregionspecial2/29Rparenting.html?_r=1&scp=1&sq=harvard%20alumni%20interview&st=cse</a></p>

...it won't be the end of the world for those 93% of applicants. we're all awesome and we'll all succeed in our own right, whether it's at harvard or at the honors college of a state school like my brother. [/cheesiness]

Cool rejected applicants go to The University of Michigan’s Honors college. /thread

^ Uhhh Michigan State is not University of Michigan…please don’t tell me you’ve applied to Harvard…

^That’s right, it’s not the same thing, Flipper. That’s why it’s better. I know the difference between two universities that both happen to be located in my state.

Right…that’s why you couldn’t read this: “my older brother had just been rejected from harvard and matriculated at the michigan state honors college.”

Perhaps we should investigate your insipid lack of sarcasm, good sir? Did it occur to you I was making jest with the O.P? If you were from Michigan, which I assume you are not, you would be aware of the rivalry that exists between the University of Michigan and Michigan State. I was simply cheering on my favorite, U of M.

Perhaps, good sir, you should, as they say, lighten up?

Don’t worry, Clamzon, I chuckled at your comment. I’m not from Michigan, but being a bit of a college sports connoisseur (March Madness FTW!), I’m well aware of the rivalry.

I’m posting just so that “hello, sdxdtx, it appears that you have not posted on our forums…” message goes away.

^Good. Affirmation that I am not going incredibly mad.

@clam person. U of M is my safety… but MSU gave my brother a full ride and U of M gave him very little finaid (they’re *****es about it!). but I totally agree with you, honors college ftw (:

Hey, I may see you at U of M next year then, if Harvard falls through.

U of M is very stingy with financial aid, but in-state tuition isn’t that awful to begin with. v Good luck to you in all you do!
