rebanne1119, i’ll write a letter to my boy Obama. I bet with this economy, no one will notice a teensy tiny amendment that doesn’t affect their bank account :]

@vcm91 Oh it’s on. TJ could take that guy any day :P

I’m such a latecomer to this thread!

Foreign aid worker

International Relations (hopefully concentration in Women’s Studies)

I love George Sand, Barbara Kingsolver, and whatever post-feminist literature I can get my hands on

7-ish. I don’t look like a nerd, but deep down, I am!

Cosmo… it’s such a contradiction, but I can’t stop reading it

To perform: Classical/Classical-contemporary. To listen to: Hip-hop

Making my school’s MUN club what it is now

Let’s not talk failures. :p

Activism… writing letters, and lately, running for public office

HVard, Georgetown, Brown, Tufts, Wellesley, Vassar, Wells, BU. And I’m a long-shot for everything before Wellesley on the list.

Greatest failure?
I can’t play a single musical instrument.

Favorite nonacademic past time?
Reading random stuff on the internet.

How high is Wellesley ranked on your list? Be honest.
Right after Harvard, Yale and Princeton. #4 out of 12.

PS/ I noticed that all the replies to the question “Which historical figure would you want to meet?” thus far reflect a very American/Eurocentric view of human history.
My choice would be Gandhi. :)

queenravin, alex would so beat thomas jefferson at anything besides a duel.

also late - but i’m 99% sure that i’m going to wellesley!

Dream career, if money were irrelevant?
-Politician, but not the corrupt kind. Perhaps not even on a national level…maybe just a local politician (although I do have dreams of becoming a senator).

Intended major/academic interests?
Political Science! Although I do enjoy International Relations…and English…

Favorite book/author(s)/movies?
A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving. I’m also in love with anything Jonathan Safran Foer touches.
My favorite movie is Forrest Gump.

Nerdiness on a scale of 1-10?
8…although my dorkiness is probably a 10

Guilty pleasure?
The Office!! Or Lady Gaga music (ok, she’s really catchy lol)

Favorite music genre?
Alternative rock, or classic rock

Greatest accomplishment?
I think getting into Wellesley is pretty far up there haha.

Greatest failure?
wow I really have no idea…idk if i see anything I’ve done as a failure…maybe only as a setback or lowpoints.

Favorite nonacademic past time?
Watching movies or watching baseball/football/tv in general. I also enjoy long walks with my best friend (who may also be coming to wellesley!!)

How high is Wellesley ranked on your list? Be honest.

1, as of right now. the financial aid package was insane, it’s cheaper than my state school. And I think I would regret not going to wellesley the rest of my life if I don’t go.

Another question: what was the main draw to Wellesley for you?
For me:
-Architecture major in liberal arts college environment
-Intramural crew
-Ability to take classes at MIT
-Location close to Boston
-High percentage of students living on campus
-Community of awesome smart women

queenravin, I’m with you on pretty much all of those reasons. For me, it was:

the Boston location (I’ve grown up outside of Boston and I think it’s a wonderful city and region)

the campus community

the incredible alums

the beautiful campus

the excellence in academics

distribution requirements/emphasis on getting a well-rounded education

the course catalog!!! I read it for fun

“women who will make a difference in the world”: I want to be one!

Now if Wellesley will improve its sad little financial aid offer, I’ll be all set. And if I can fully get over the schools I loved that waitlisted me.

So is everyone on here probably going to Wellesley?

I am probably going to attend - I just received my final waitlist from a college. My best friend is waiting to hear from Tufts, but she’s pretty sure she’ll be attending as well, and my other friend is most likely going to attend too.
it’ll be sort’ve nice knowing a few people to start off.

Will anyone be going to the admitted students day? I’ll see you there!

And the main draws for wellesley for me include:
- The education (one of the best in the country)
- The student body (active, engaged, not there to party but to learn)
- The type of women that walk out of Wellesley…everyone goes on to do something incredible and have an impact on society (whether that be society at large or local community)…I want to not only be one of those women, but I also want to meet and learn from some of the nation’s future leaders. It’s the opportunity of a lifetime.
- A few of my teachers went to Wellesley, and they are bright, fabulous women who I really respect, and they really encouraged me to apply to Wellesley…I’m so happy that I did

My major draws are mostly:

The small size of the school and the close-knit community

The alums and the remarkable women there

It’s a women’s college but there are guys nearby so that we kind of have the best of both worlds :)

How everyone there actually WANTS to learn and participate

-every Wellesley woman I’ve ever met has been absolutely BA. assertive, honest, confident, articulate. i’ve terribly impressed with both alumni and current students of the college.
-Boston---->tons of interesting people, both college students and non
-generally, the girls aren’t there to party away four years of their lives. everyone seems to take advantage of all wellesley has to offer.
-pure undergraduate education.
