I got 790 on math level 2

I am currently sophomore and I got 790 on math level 2. Should I retake it?

you’re joking right?

Maybe, if you’re sure you can score an 800.

That test is harshly scaled. You can get some wrong and still get an 800. I was in your shoes my sophomore year and I retook it. Go get that perfect score!

800 is really easy, I would retake.

Since you are a sophomore I think you should retake it, but only if you *really[i/] want that perfect score.

Congratulations by the way, that is a fantastic score, and the fact that you are a sophomore is even more impressive! ;)

Congratulations on an awesome score!! In the long-run it won’t make a difference when applying to colleges (aka this shouldn’t be your reason for re-taking it and some top colleges don’t allow you to score choice, so they will see that you took the same test twice). If it makes a difference to you, then re-take it! Otherwise use your time to study/take another exam.

That’s fantastic! No need to retake. Focus on the next tests instead, cross this one off the list. CELEBRATE!!!

Aww thank you guys =)

Same question, but I’m a junior. Does that change any of your answers? :</p>

good lord. the difference between a 790 and an 800 in any subject, no matter how generous the curve, is NEGLIGIBLE. retaking it only makes you look obsessive. focus on things that actually matter, like your essays and enjoying life.

how about between a 770 and an 800?

^same thing. adcoms know the difference between an 800 and a 770 is only a few questions. You can rest assured that if you don’t get into school X, it isn’t because you got a 770 on an SAT subject test. Your efforts would be much better spent on something else.

^Not in Math II…

In Math II the curve is such that you can miss around 8(?) questions and still get an 800. Of course, you also might not have missed any questions, and the thing is adcoms have no way of knowing–so the 800 doesn’t place any sort of a limit on how good you are, whereas a 790 and a 770 do.

I think that if you think you can and should get an 800, go for it.

its 5 questions wrong, 6 blank.

No, it will not make or break an admittance and it shows your wasting your time on nonsense. Spend time on ECs or scholarships. What is it goes down? Don’t forget retaking tests cost $$$

don’t waste your money, don’t waste your time, don’t annoy the colleges
790 = good enough

I would wonder why anyone with a 790 is retaking a test. don’t they have anything better to do with their time? Testing is not supposed to be an extracurricular activity! Take your great score and now do something else that is interesting to you!
