I got a 0 on the essay.

I did an SAT Real essay. And I just blanked out for 20+ minutes. The prompt was: "Are heroes and celebrities the same?"
I chose: No because celebrities are just famous.
Then I couldn't think of any examples at all!! I can't think of ANY historical examples. No books at all came to mind. I mean all Ive read is Harry Potter and stuff like that. And NOTHING came to mind.
Im not in GT everything like everyone else, you guys can think of all these complicated examples like the french revolution or some greek play but I dont have any of those to help me.

is it possible to get a 12 essay by just writing personal examples or ordinary ones like (Ford motors sold a lot of cars and they’re rich)

A celebrity is any famous or well known person. Don’t limit yourself to our society’s typical interpretation of the word: someone like Jessica Alba or Brad Pitt.

Contrast that with a hero. A hero is one who accomplishes something that makes him or her beloved, a model for society. A hero does not have to be well known.

Think of a famous person who may not have done any great deed (thus becoming a hero). Then think of someone who did something great but may not have become famous as a result. It’s a tough prompt to think of examples, but you gotta try. If you’re really having trouble, just take the other side. IMO your side is more difficult to come up with examples.

I would say yes… then think of athletes and how they donate so much to charity. Like I know Albert Pujols has one but I’m not sure what it does–I would just make it up because chances are they won’t know either. Then just one more example of John Doe who died trying to save people from the Twin Towers or something like that. It would probably get me an 9 or a 10 if I make it believable enough

thnx any more help?

One way to deal with this is to mentally prepare some stock examples that might be used for lots of essays. So, for example, you know who Abraham Lincoln and George Washington are, right? You know a couple of rock stars? You’ve read a couple of books? Just make a little mental list of some of these sorts of things, and force them into whatever the essay topic is (assuming you don’t think of some better examples).

@orange peel

Ive had those blank out moments too, but you have to read up on your current events man.

I agree with Hunt, I’m not the greatest writer but I easily got a 10 on my essay filling up both pages
and still had 5 minutes left

I used

Churchill quote
Great Gatsby by Fitzgerald
North Korea

You can use those or

The American/French Revolution
Homer/ Iliad/ any great piece of literature
current events are great! - i used bernie madoff, enron, bank bailouts, hell dude you can use monica lewinsky and pres. clinton lol.

anything you thinkk is important and will validate your argument basically =]]]

If you happen to be Buddhist you can use the Bhagavad Gita! haha

see thats the problem ive never heard of any those examples u just listed
and yes ive tried memorizing examples before already but i forget it all when i do the essay.
say all those examples u listed. id go to wikipedia, get a general idea from the complex stuff they have on there, then try to work that in but i either forget it or it doesnt work

seth rogen wrote superbad??!!?!!
