Of course. Other extreme nuisances that haunted my school years in addition to cheaters were teacher’s pet aka extreme ass kissers and the most infamous BS’ers who wrote just about the silliest essays that pleased the horrible teachers we happened to have. Yet they got to ride by with A’s while every poor soul trying their best received C’s.

I don’t know… we had some rather smart kids (kids that got 29s and 30s on the Plan test (out of 32)) and received AP scores of 2s and 3s

The average grade was a 70% in my AP World Class. The people who got a 90% without the ten points probably did get fives. But after talking to some of my friends they did not do well either. No cheating in my AP World Class. My teacher said last year 50% passed. I go to a really good school and I thought the course was pretty challenging. The teacher was ok, but nothing you can do about that.

early_college. These are the hardest cases. Obviously you guys worked hard for how difficult the course seems from your description. Therefore you should have been able to get a good grade. However, the teachers that do not teach to the test put students at huge disadvantage, which is what seems to have happened here. However it could also be that there are people in the calss that are not ready for AP that bring down the average for everything.

I think that could have happened. I didn’t think we got much AP preparation as I did freshman year. I don’t think we had enough essays in the class. He told us that he has to teach to the test, so I don’t know. I think he reviewed the material, but it could have happened in a different manner.

“teachers make tests (and in some cases papers) atleast 3/4 of your grade”

I’m so glad I don’t go to your school.

I think a lot of people in CC just want straight fives as ego boosters. Honestly, you get the same amount of credit hours at most schools with a four. That’s the point of AP. To get college credit; not to brag how smart you are.

I’m an awful test taker, and still maintain a GPA high enough to be in the top 5% of my class.

I received a 3 on my AP Calculus BC exam and i thought that class taught me the most of any class I’ve had in high school. It has actually persuaded me to look into majoring in mathematics. Point is, AP tests are not a good indicator of a student’s aptitude on the ENTIRE curriculum (there are things on the BC exam i would have loved to see) and quite frankly, they’re not a good measure of what I’ve learned because my AP class was a lot more theoretical which the AP doesn’t even cover. I’m also not downplaying a 5, because i also think a 5 takes a lot of hard work and determination.

You guys and gals, earlcollege simply stated that a 2 is a 2 and there’s no way of changing that (besides some pretty heft options of course…) He’s saying that it’s ok and that no one should be freaking out about a little keystroke from a computer be it a 1 or a 5. Heck. I know a few people in my APUSH class who were smart and capable people (much more intelligent than I am when it comes to US history) who got a 2 on the test, but an A or a B in the class. Not because there was inflation, not because of a “bubbling error”, not because of a mishap on CB side but because of a bad day. You know what they did when they got there scores? Here’s what my friend said. "F#$^ it I’m doing better next time, and she enrolled in AP Euro this upcoming year. earlycollege is simply stating that while a 5 on every AP test would be nice it’s ok to get a 2 and be able to move on. ok… Off the soapbox.

If you get seriously ill, you better hope your surgeon got a 5 in AP Bio, because a 4 means %50 right. You don’t want him to be %50 certain that he should make an incision do you? I know AP Bio isn’t anatomy, but you get the idea.

It’s slightly more than 50% right. Moreover, if you were to become some type of doctor, I doubt that AP credit would do you that much good when you’d be required to study for years and years just to get into the field.

Jacky just made my point, thank you :)

Is this one of those self-therapy threads again?

No it isn’t. LOL. I’m just trying to tell people that a 2 is not the end of the world!

This might be the wrong place to do it. Just check out the scores. Those who get 5’s are the majority for almost every single exam, when in reality only 10-11% receive that score.

That is because CC isn’t the real world.
