I got a 22 on the ACT...

on my first try and I'm a sophomore in high school. I'm pretty ashamed of myself and ****ed as well but the only thing to do now is to just improve.

So what ACT book is the best out there for someone who got a 22? By the way, I've taken the practice test on the official ACT website and I can say that I did horribly in the English part (especially with tenses :( omg).

People say Barron's 36 is very useful and apparently it's helped a lot of people on this website get a 35/36. But I've heard it's also very hard... I believe I can handle it but is it the right range for someone who got a 22? Barron just seems like a book someone in the high 30's would get just to improve for that perfect 36, not a 22.

People say Princeton's is trash... or just bad... So I guess I'm just throwing that out completely.

The Real ACT book is apparently great for practice tests, so I think i'm picking those up.

So I'm going to get the Barron's 36 and the Real ACT book, do you guys think those are some good books to pick up to go from a 22 to a high 30? I really hope so, and to be honest I think I was half sleepy when I took the practice ACT (22 score)... I barely remembered what happened.

Im a junior and to prep for the first time bought Barron’s 36 only. I went from a crummy 22 to about 28, high twenties on avg with practice test. The book did help me a lot, especially on English (20 to 29) but I wish I’d probably start with something more basic. I still turned out okay because I barely started studying on Spring Break. I took the test the first time on Saturday and KNOW I’m taking it again. I just order The Real ACT Guide on eBay because I think I didn’t have a good enough fondation when I got Barron’s.

Good luck :)
