I got a 3 on AP US Gov and I do not know what I should do. I studied really hard for the exam and I felt that I did really well on it. I’ve read online that people have and their scores increase, but I do not know if I should do the rescore and ask for my FRQ booklet back or not.
Please help me. Thank you!!!
Are you a rising senior or rising college freshman? If you have been accepted into college, I would check and see how they use AP scores. It may be you wouldn’t get any credit for it anyway or that you get the same credit for 3 as for higher score. At my D’s college that was very generous with credits, it would have only been an elective.
If you are rising HS senior, I guess it’s up to you, but colleges generally look at your grade in the class, not the AP test score for purposes of admissions.
@scmom12 Hi there! I am a rising sophmore. I’m not too worried about the college credit aspect of the score, but I just feel that I did a whole lot better on the exam. When I did practice tests I consistently scored in the 5s. Do you think I should rescore?
Do you seem to remember bubbling in wrong or using the wrong pencil? Only the MC is rescored
If you have the money, there’s nothing to lose.
@Mathophile26 It could have happened! I do not know, but I know I studied so hard and a 3 is a low-ish score.
@Lindagaf You’re right! Thanks for your thoughts.
Try using the appass score estimator if you remember approx how many you were confident on for the MC and FRQ. Maybe the curve just wasn’t that generous. It’s pretty much your choice. If you can afford to pay then I guess go for it, but know that there will most likely be no score change. It’s usually not worth it in terms of college admissions, especially because you already passed. Check the AP credit policies of the colleges you are interested in. Remember that AP scores have very little influence on college admissions itself, only on what course your can take. Usually a passing score will get you credit.
@Mathophile26 Thanks for your advice! I’ll probably just do the report because why not. It’s probably just a waste of time anyways.
You could always rescore to have peace of mind, but it’s quite possible you just didn’t do as well as you thought
@Lindagaf Is there a possibility for college board to score lower?
I suppose, but that’s highly unlikely.
Agreed. It’s also highly unlikely that the score will go higher, but if you want to spend the money for peace of mind, go for it.
