I got a D (transfer student)

I got a D twice in a non transferable math class how will this affect my chances into getting accepted to a UC? Will this affect my grad school chances? I have passed the class and have submitted my substandard grade but I know it looks bad on my transcript.

While a D will most likely raise a red flag, I believe the admissions committee will look at the grade in the context of your entire academic record. It’s best to take responsibility for your grade, and if you would like to offer an explanation somewhere in your application, the committee will likely appreciate the maturity you’ve shown in presenting your request for admission.

Now, I’m not very familiar with the UC system or the admissions process there, but I think an email or phone call to the admissions office of interest might do you some good. They should be able to offer some advice pertaining to your request.

Thank you for the advice, yes I’m going to offer an explanation on my application.
