i might possibly be getting D this semester in a transferable class, if i do get a D it will be a high one. I was wondering if anyone has ever had a high D and talked to a teacher and gotten them to change it to a C? if so any tips on doing this? thanks you. i'm not sure yet if i got a D, i'm just very very nervous about what i got on my final.

Dude Im in the SAME BOAT!!!

If I fail this class (with a HIGH D) than not only will I not have the 60 unites
to transfer but I also won’t have the TAG (I-GETC) completed!!!

Go talk to the prof and tell them why getting a C is important. Offer to go above and beyond for the C.You can’t just accept the D!!!

Yeah I have the solution right here:

Go back in time and study harder. Don’t try and beg the professors. The grade you get is the grade you earned. Worse case scenario is that you take the class again in the Spring. I know people who got a D in a prereq course and still got into UC’s so its not all over if you do end up with a D.

Is the course you’re getting the D in a pre-req or GE class you can’t replace with another course? If yes, I’d say it’s a huge problem… If not, however, it isn’t that horrible. You’d still have a shot at getting into UCs, as long as you retake the course next term (and specify this in the application update). Of course, your GPA should be fairly high to be considered. If it drops under 3.0, I’d say your chances are slim. Do you have TAG? If you do and your GPA is over 3.0 and you didn’t “need” the course, I think you shouldn’t worry.

This is a tough situation because the professor might see you as (1) questioning his evaluation of your performance in his class, (2) trying to get something that you did not earn, (3) asking for special treatment not given to other members of the class.

In that light, if you talk to the professor about raising your grade you must offer him something in return such as writing a paper or doing a research project over the winter break.
