Question - Received a D before transfer

Hello, I am a Philosophy major with a 3.26 GPA. I am currently on the verge of possibly transferring for this upcoming Fall to a UC and unfortunately I received a D in remedial Math (this past winter term), however I might be able to take the College Math this Spring term. Since, it was a remedial math class it won't count towards UC, but will I have to retake the class, since I received a D? Also, does this automatically affect my chances of getting an acceptance, since I can't really make up the remedial math class before the UC's start sending out their decisions. (I also haven't completed the required classes to transfer, but I will be taking them this Spring term, Biology/College Math).

Thanks in advance

The people that know the answer work in UC admissions. Call and talk with them. Most genuinely like students and want to help you get your UC degree. Its the mature thing to do, facing up to your problems. It’s also the smart thing to do. There are far more alternatives available to you in February then there will be if you wait until they get your final transcripts in July/August.

Generally, UCs don’t care about the grades you earned in nontransferable classes. Since you say you’ll be taking a transferable math class in the spring semester before transfer, I’d say that you’ll be fine, but I could be wrong.

Will your CC actually let you take the next level math class even if you earned a D in the pre-req for that class?

I believe they will possibly let me take the class, I just attended the math class yesterday and I was still registered in the class.
