I got a general Associates and now think it was the wrong route. What do I do now?

Hi there, I'm kind of lost about what direction to head and think I may have ruined my chances.

When this term is over (in Dec 2012) I will obtain my Associates of Science Degree. I took a bunch of random courses to fulfill the requirements because I wasn't sure what I wanted to major in.

Well, I think I want to major in Environmental Science. Now this is where I am completely lost... There are about 65 credits worth of BI, CH, and MTH I can take at my current college, which is ideal and cheaper since it's a community college. However, some of these courses have prerequisites I'd need to complete to even get in them. So it'll be more than 65 credits total.... I SHOULD have taken this route for my associates of science!! It's useless now, I'm on financial aid, so I can't just "start over"... I just completed 91 credits of random stuff for this degree and now I'd have to take basically another 80 something or just transfer to the university and pay more $$ if my financial aid doesn't allow me to continue at my community college.

Now, on financial aid and am at like 310% of my pell grant (half way used up) and am an independent student using loans.

Was it a waste?

I'm so losted as to what to do. I have appointments with an advisor in a week, but am seeking more insight to my situation. I appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

Email the department that you want to transfer into, and start finding out about this. If your full AS transfers covering your gen ads and some pre-reqs, you still should be able to finish your BS in only two more years. You just will have a tight schedule and not much room for electives.
