I got a letter.....and I'm not sure what it means

<p>I am currently a high school junior. I just received a letter in the mail from Liberty University.
It says:
"Thank you for your interest in Liberty University. The Admissions Committee has placed you in a provisional status for the semester of 2014, which means we need the following documents before a decision can be made:
Personal Essay
HS Trans Final-Official
HS Trans Prelim-Offical
SAT or ACT Score Report</p>

<p>If you have not yet graduated from high school, you may submit preliminary transcripts showing at least ninth through eleventh grades for consideration......."</p>

<p>The rest is just: we are glad you plan to attend, talk to an admissions person, etc. Also enclosed was a one page thing about how their admissions process works, a Confirmation Deposit Form, and a Transcript Request Form.
But I haven't applied obviously; I'm just a junior. What does this letter mean? Is it basically saying "You will be accepted if you apply?" </p>

<p>Thanks for the input.</p>

<p>My reaction…
A letter to encourage your application to their university.
NOT a letter saying you will be accepted if you apply.
IF, after research you wish to apply, you can reference this letter in your application as to the way you first learned about their college.
Your Junior year you will receive many letters/pamphlets about different schools encouraging you to apply to their school. It is their job to market their school.
Wishing you the BEST!

<p>Pretty aggressive marketing, that’s all it is.</p>

<p>Basically, you’re in if you apply. Although, that’s true for most people applying there, Liberty has some easy standards for admission.</p>

<p>we have been getting post cards and letters since S was a sophomore in HS. Lately, for some reason, he is being heavily recruited by a college known of its football team. Too bad that my son has no talent in sports.</p>

<p>You will probably get letters from schools ranging from Cornell to UNLV</p>

<p>They usually don’t mean much.</p>

<p>Thanks, you guys.</p>
