I got a strange Email concerning my January 2012 scores

Hi, this is the first time i face something like that .. i just got this Email from collegeboard.

February 15, 2012

Dear Test Taker:

The College Board and Educational Testing Service (ETS) are highly committed to quality standards and fairness. After every test administration, we go to great lengths to make sure each test result we report is accurate and valid. With these objectives in mind, we sometimes must take additional quality control steps before scores are released.

We are conducting an administrative review of certain scores from the January 28, 2012, SAT and Subject Test administration, and as a result of this review, the processing of your January scores has been delayed. At the conclusion of our review, you will be notified if there are questions concerning your scores; otherwise your scores will be reported to you and to your designated score recipients. We expect to complete the review within approximately 3 weeks. If your scores are not released within that time, or you do not otherwise hear from us, please feel free to contact Customer Service by email at sat@info.collegeboard.org or by phone at +1-212-713-7789 Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to
9 p.m. Eastern Time.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Sincerely,

Carswell Whitehead

Did anyone face something like that before? and does it have something with a big increase in score?

where there problems at your test center? somone must have reported something or something must have gone wrong while the results where being shipped or a technical glich in the grading system?

none … didn’t have a single problem …

Your scores may be delayed if the overall composite score for your SAT went up by over their threshold amount. If this happens, the system automatically flags your test and an analyst proceeds to investigate your case. However, your scores certainly will not be canceled as long as you did not cheat.

I’m not sure but I think the threshold, for score increase, is about 350, meaning that if you have an increase that exceeds that amount then your scores are somewhat flagged.

Don’t think i got such an increase, i was extremely sick on test day .

hmm, well then I can’t really give you any indication as to why your scores will be delayed. The best thing you can do is just to wait and see when they release them.

I sent them an email and they replied (I think automatic reply)

“Thank you for your response. We will advise you in writing once our review is completed.”

??

Did you cheat?

NO, I was well prepared for this exam, but unfortunately i got Extremely sick on test day; my concentration on the test day decreased be 30%-40%.

I am afraid someone behind me had been copying from me as i was not concentrating at all due to the flu i had.

Do you live in the middle east ?

Apparently, some dumb people decided it was smart to steal the test packets from the a test center in Jeddah (Saudi arabia) and sell it for as little as 50 riyals (about 10$). The cheaters also made sure not to shoot for high scores.

If this is real, your scores might even be cancelled, Sorry.

My entire school got the same e-mail, I am from Egypt.
I don’t know if they might cancel the scores, but as long as you didn’t cheat you don’t have to worry, I guess.

well that explains. i am happy that SAT executives are sincere about the integrity of the test and wont let these cheaters escape.

Rawan, I heard about that too, since I’m in Alexandria. I heard that the Academy test center will have all its scores cancelled, due to mass cheating.

I was in the Academy too.
I know I didn’t cheat or let anyone cheat off of my paper and this would be very unfair and disappointing  I hope they don’t cancel all the scores!

Sorry to break it to you, it appears only the SAT 1 tests were stolen. It will probably be cancelled (Already done in the past, and got cancelled with no refund whatsoever)

!!! What about the university deadline !!! I cannot wait until may or june !!! ???

Please guys say the source of your information … this is a disaster

A friend of mine attends the school where it was stolen, he saw the booklets bein sold etc…

Might be a system generated warning due to unusual answer overlaps (e.g. too many of same wrong answers perhaps).

They are not out for us.
