Well, i go to a HUGE high school (4,000+ kids), so naturally, things such as handing out PSAT scores take FOREVER. I tried to email my counselor to get them, but they wouldn't let me. However, i did receive an invitation to the prestigious TASP program in the mail. Does this mean that i scored high on the PSAT? How high do you think one must score to get an invitation?

General gist of what I've read is: TASP sends letters out to people with good scores, but it doesn't necessarily mean you have a better chance of gaining admission to the program. Rather, they do it to alert people who might not know of TASP.

My dd made 237 on PSAT and got an invite to apply to TASP. I do think it's from her PSAT score. A few days prior she got a brochure from the Army - so who knows!

Question: Is the program for those who have completed Junior year? or entering? It's not clear from the web site, but I would hope they send invitations to those who are eligible!

lol I haven't received my PSAT score yet, but I received an invitation to TASP. I'm hoping that means I did well on the PSAT. Or maybe my mom just requested the brochure thing from TASP since I was telling her about it a while ago...

I found out a week ago that I got a 236 on the PSAT, and I checked through my "spam mail" pile and noticed that, yes, I had an invite to this TASP thing. I didn't know it was prestigious -- should I try to get involved with it? I thought it might be just another scam.

It's not a scam - for one thing, attending is free.

That being said, since it's a pretty prestigious [and from what I've heard from people who've gone there, incredible] experience, admissions are pretty tough.

For the people who got invitations - don't get too confident. Test scores, I believe, don't play much, if any, role in admittance to TASP. Rather, they send out those invitations to make the program known to presumably smart kids who otherwise wouldn't know about it.

In summation: it's definitely something worth going to, if you can.
