I got a W! Still hope?

So as of this morning I have a W on my transcript. Besides that I show have a 4.0....I'll be applying in the fall for transfer. Should I wave goodbye to UCLA psych, or can I still get in? How much will this hurt my chances?

a W or 2 won’t hurt. I have like, 4 W’s if that makes you feel better, haha (but most of them are from PE classes)

A W is no big deal. Ironically, I also have 1 W and applied to UCLA Psych. You should have noooo problem getting in with that GPA and 1 W lol. A W doesn’t look bad at all. It’s when you have multiple W’s that you should be worried. You’re fine.

thanks…

and got luck on getting into UCLA psych!

I really want to say something sarcastic but I’ll refrain. You’ll be just fine!

i don’t like these insecure threads!

I’m sorry…some people are just insecure. If you don’t like my thread, does that mean you don’t like me? I really am I nice person if you get to know me…I think, maybe?

I have a W in Pre-calculus and I got a C in the same class on my following attempt.

I then got an A in Calculus 1 on my first attempt, and I’m not taking Calculus 2 and breezing through it (thus far).

Should be interesting to see how that’s interpreted.

You’ll be fine, I got into UCLA Psych with like 4 W’s. They don’t care. Its not really as hard to get in as you guys make it out to be. Just so long as you finish all your pre-reqs you are fine.

My bro had a W in a major course, 2-3 W’s in PE classes, a C in Algebra II, a B in pre-cal. He got into UCB HAAS with a 3.8ish GPA.

So don’t stress out, you have a pretty solid chance

He go into HAAS with that GPA? I thought it was super impacted, more impacted than EECS. He must have had great EC’s.

On the same note, what do you guys think about a grade change (A to B)? I’ve already applied and would have to notify the UCs about this change. Do you think it’d affect my admission?

(I had a B originally, but was emailed by my prof. that she would change it to an A. It’s been four months and I’ve been hassling her - still no change. I’ve already updated my applications, back in Jan, noting that I received an A in that class. So, yeah, I’m preparing for the worst…)

Eden

Take it to the board, the higher ups in administration, they’ll help you.

Of course you need some evidence, IE: Emails, written documents proving this.

@ EmpathyinAnarchy: I didn’t apply to Haas, but a 3.8 with all prereqs done is pretty competitive. There are so many prereqs that most applicants don’t even have them completed (or near completed) when they apply. That’s why it is super-impacted and has such a low admit rate.

Overall, I think it’s funny that a 3.8 could ever be considered a “low” GPA. Don’t worry, I get where you’re coming from…it is Haas we’re talking about after all. However, I’m not surprised at all that the guy mentioned with the 3.8 was admitted.

@empathy ya anything above a 3.8 and your solid for haas

HAAS looks at ECs more than any other school in UCB. They want leadership skills and all that fancy stuff. Also, 3.8 is an excellent GPA, but like I said, ECs matter A LOT when it comes to HAAS.

Yeah, I didn’t mean to imply 3.8 was a low GPA, I just thought it low relative to the applicant pool given their 10% admit rate. I know absolutely nothing about any program at Cal besides EECS, so I didn’t mean to sound authoritative. Thanks for helping me see my error.

there are twp types of people that get accepted to haas:
Type one: AMAZING grades with little to no ECs
Type two: AMAZING ECs with above average grades (3.6-3.8)

This guy will get rejected:
Type three: Above Average grades and above average ECs

i have 5 w’s. and i might be adding another one "|

@empathy their addmit rate is 25%

@laker what considered excellent ec’s and what’s considered above avg?
