I applied for CSE because I really want to major in Chemical Engineering, like reeaaallllyyy want to. But I got accepted for CLA. Is there any way I can request to switch to CSE? I have a 3.66 GPA 30 composite ACT and I have taken 6 AP classes. Should I just swallow my pride and go to a different school? Or is there a way I can still major in Chemical Engineering while at CLA?

SuperAnt - you can apply to transfer into CSE sometime in sophomore year. Here is a link with the transfer criteria. Also, make sure you are taking courses to keep you on track for your major.

[Transfer from within the University : College of Science & Engineering : University of Minnesota, Twin Cities](http://cse.umn.edu/admissions/transferadm/CSE_CONTENT_374935.php)

Thanks for your response! If I’m a good student, is it very likely for me to get a transfer spot? Basically, I’m trying to decide wether to go to U-MN CLA or to Iowa State’s college of Engineering where I for sure get an engineering spot.

You’re more likely to be accepted as a transfer than as a freshman I believe. They have a limited amount of spots in the program available for new freshman.
