Hi, i checked online and saw that i got admitted to Tulane University.
It says:
"Undergraduate Admissions (2011 Fall)
Congratulations!
You have been admitted, and we welcome you to the Tulane family. You will soon receive a formal admission letter and invitations to special programs for admitted students. In the meantime, we encourage you to visit the Admitted Students section of our website."

And i did not see anything about merit scholarship.
Does that mean i didn't get any?
Can Anyone who got merit scholarship from Tulane tell me where to find out?
I got a 32 on the ACT so i thought i could get maybe half scholarship...

If your estimated financial aid is not posted on the web, you can always ask if you are being considered for any scholarships. You might want to post on the Tulane forum and see what is happening to other students this year or how this was handled in previous years.

Have you checked the threads or asked on the Tulane subforum? I find that the individual college subforums have posters familiar with that school who can either answer your question or direct you to call the university.

motb, I’m on auto-pilot tonight, sorry to repeat what you already said!

Thank you for all your help!
Just another quick question:
How do i handle financial aid?
All i know is that i have to complete FAFSA and send it to schools.

As Rodney stated, if you receive a merit scholarship to Tulane that info will be included in the acceptance letter you receive about two weeks after your online notification.

In addition to the FAFSA, TUlane also requires that you fill out the CSS profile. Financial aid packages from Tulane are sent out in March.

While this is for the current school year, it appears that Tulane requires BOTH the Profile AND the FAFSA. You will need to complete both. You will have to call the school to find out their deadlines for submission of these forms. They do have a phone number on the website that you can use.

So basically, in order to receive need-based financial aid, i just complete those universal forms (FAFSA and CSS Profile) and send them in online to the schools i’m interested in?
And i can just sign up for other scholarships, right?

dhs…you need to check EACH school you are applying to and see what each school requires for financial aid applications. Some schools require the Profile and the FAFSA. Some schools require only the FAFSA. Some schools have their own form. Some schools require signed tax returns and w-2 forms. Some schools require additional documentation (e.g. bank statements). SO…check EACH college you are applying to for THEIR requirements and the deadlines…then do what they tell you to do.

For Tulane, you don’t sign up or apply for any other merit scholarships except the Dean’s Honor Scholarship and the Community Service Scholarship. These do require separate applications. The DHS is due Wednesday, so probably too late for that. You likely would not have been in the running anyway, they usually award to people that have higher test score than 32. The Community Service Scholarship application is due Jan 1 or Jan 15, I forget which. This one is “only” $5,000-$15,000 but can be added to any merit scholarship you get. As far as the merit scholarships, these are awarded automatically if you are going to get one at all. As stated above, they don’t tell you online, it is only in the paper letter you get in the mail. These range from $7,500-$25,000.

For need-based aid, it is as stated above. You fill out the FAFSA and CSS by mid-February and they tell you the package late March.
