I Got Admitted But Just Realized I Made A Stupid Mistake On My Application w/ HS Diploma Date

I am a transfer student and i have just discovered that I put the wrong date on my high school diploma (I am an immigrant and went to a high school in another country) in my UC Application. It’s supposed to be 12/2008(thats what it said on my diploma) but I put it as 8/2008,that’s 4 months earlier.I cannot believe I ever made such a silly mistake and did not discover it.

Everything else is accurate, including the dates I attended high school and colleges.

I already got admitted to UCI,UC Davis and UCLA and waiting for decision from UC Bekerley.

Please help me is there anything I can do at this point? Will this affect my acceptance?

Contact the colleges and tell them; it’s a minor error.

I really really doubt it.

Also for future reference, don’t post in all caps.

skieurope Thanks for the quick reply I really appreciate it I will call them on morning and hope for the best

I also don’t believe it makes any adverse effect on you as long as you inform them ASAP!

It shouldn’t make an iota of difference, but do let them know.

Honestly, it shouldn’t be a big deal. I went to high school in a different country and I wasn’t sure if high school graduation date was the last day of school or the day I received my high school leaving exam results. So, I just put the latter. Lol. Come on, you already got admitted in the other schools so no worries! All the best.

pereaa yeah same here but in my case the last day of high school was in May(which I put it correctly as the last day I attended high school-5/2008) ,and the day my official high school diploma was signed is in December 2008,but what I put on the application was August 2008.Honestly now that I look at it again I do not understand where that August come from.Only explanation is probably that in my country they issued what is called “Temporary high school diploma” for those who have passed the high school graduation exam earlier than the official diploma because it always took them a while to print out the official form,so I might have put the date of that form in my application. But still that it just a guess and now I do not keep that temporary form anymore so I have no proof of that.

You’ll be okay, just let them know.

Quick update on this I contacted the schools and one school told me not to worry about it while another just fix that information on their website like immediately lol so I guess Im fine for them, still waiting for responses from the other schools

Is the reason that schools even request high school transcripts to confirm the graduation date? They don’t look at high school grades, correct?

@boxandwhiskers I am not really sure why they want high school transcript not all schools ask for that

Of course they look at grades; if you fail a class, your admission is in jeopardy.

@skieurope but what he talked about was high school transcript for a transfer student I dont think they actually look at high school grades no?

@dungsi27 Oops, I missed that part. You’re correct. Well, they might look at them, but it’s certainly not going to be a key factor.

hopefully not because my high school grades are not very impressive to say the least lol

Hey so new update UCLA,UC Davis and UCI updated my high school graduation date without any problem, and I just got accepted to UCB. However on the letter of acceptance of UCB they said:
“Your admission to Berkeley will be cancelled without further notice if:
You do not satisfy all of the above conditions
Any information you have submitted on your application for admission does not agree with official documentation”
That sounds deadly serious it sounds to me like any error and it is an automatic revoke does that mean my high school date error will hurt me this time?

It’s a standard letter. Just update UCB like you did the others and you should be fine.

Thanks @skieurope

I made a similar mistake. I called the admission office and they said its not a big deal. Just list it in the academic update form in the comments section.

@dungsi27 I have the similar mistake! May I ask you where you find the admission office number or e-mail? I want to inform UCSD.
