I got CAPed by UT. Here are my options.

Alright, so here's the deal. I applied to UT with a 6th semester rank of 8.6 percent. I didn't qualify for automatic admission and was offered enrollment in CAP and ACC co-enrolment.

My seventh semester rank is top 7th percent, which (I think) now qualifies for automatic admission.

I have 5 options:

Enroll in CAP and go to UTSA for the first year.

Co-enrollment with Austin Community college and UT, then transfer after 2 years.

Apply to UT in the spring with my new rank, and do nothing for the fall semester.

Apply to UT in the spring, and attend another school for the fall semester.

Forget about UT and go to another school. (Texas tech, Baylor, A&M, or UTSA).

What's the best option? Do 7th semester ranks even count? Can I even transfer after one semester?

I would call them. Maybe they would take a second look at your app? Can’t hurt to try.

I just found out I can submit an appeal. Thanks for the advice Unicameral :D

Between #1 and #2, check to see whether UTSA or ACC has the best matching courses for your major.

Of the other options #3 and #4, you may want to see if they are even possible. #5 depends on how much you like UT Austin versus the other schools (which may depend on your major).

Did appeal work?
