The letter in bold type says i'm required to participate in a Pre-Freshman Summer Program. Does anyone know what this means? Has anyone had any experience with it? I was planning on working but its six weeks...

The six week program is for students whom Cornell wants but feels like they would benefit from a six-week program to help them adjust to Cornell life. You basically get used to the school, participate in some activities, and take some classes. I'm not sure if the classes are factored into your transcript or not. No one has fully explained the program to me but I got a call from the Director of Admissions this week telling me about it. I haven't recieved a final decision on my application as of yet, however. Feel free to PM me your stats. I think we may have similar stats...everything is excellent except the SAT scores.

Cosmonaut: On the contrary, they wouldn't have accepted you if they didn't believe that you were a good candidate for Cornell. I can't tell much about you from your posts, but perhaps you had a strong application but week verbal scores, and they felt you needed a little help in that area... or math, etc. It's a terrific opportunity and you will probably be extremely prepared by Orientation. Many universities have these types of programs.
