I got accepted for Undeclared Social Sciences, but my first choice was Undeclared Life Sciences. Does anyone know how difficult it is to change once at the school?

Was it your stats that cause you to get your alternate major? I actually never heard of that happening before, maybe they made a mistake? I bet you can change during the year, I hear about people doing it all the time at the UC's. My friend actually sucessfully changed from a English to a Biology major at UCI two years ago. She just had to take a few extra classes and some that she took already was wasted.

Yeah I got into my alternate major, too. My first choice was biomed. engineering, but it was an impacted major :-/ So now I'm in as a Genetics major.

me too into alternate. how weird?? i don't understand how their system works.

since life sciences & social sciences are both in the same college, it shouldn't be difficult at all to switch. You're in as undeclared anyway, so when you declare a major it can just be in the life sciences. Most people (not me) change majors during thier education

same here... my first choice was biomed engineering but got my alternate which is biochem. engineering. At least I'm still in engineering.

Im in the same situation, except instead of undeclared - social sciences, i got undeclared - human sciences.

According to their website, changing majors within the same college is not a problem, you just have to petition and it is a relatively easy process. However, it seems in my situation where I want to switch to a different college is more complex.

Anyone know how hard it is to switch from the Agricultural college to say, Biological science college or engineering college? grades shouldnt be a problem, but i dont want to come into davis and waste 10k only to find out that i cant switch to a different college.
