Just FYI: You got in on your stats. Unlike private colleges, state Us like UF base admissions virtually 100% on gpa, test scores and whether you took the required course load. The only exception would probably be athletic recruits.

I was so suprised. My Real life friend got rejected from UF. He took a full IB courselaod and had a near 1300 SAT score and got rejected. He had a good GPA. Another one on the forums....1320 SAT 3.8 uw gpa got rejected as well....and this guy knows 11 people who were defered with good stats lol.

Thats interesting. I myself just got rejected from the university of florida. I have similar gpa. (in fact i think its exactly the same) and i have a 1260 combined SAT score. I got a 660 on math and a 600 on reading. I took the SAT again and i think i did A LOT better. The first time through i was having extreme back problems and going through physical therapy 4 times a week. it was extermely painful and hard to focus. i took the SAT last weekend.

My question is can i reapply to it. and how would i go about doing so. Also, i am wondering if it is possible to request some sort of interview. I think an interview would be a much better way to get to know who i am than my grades, which aren't bad obviously.

I have heard that UF is getting increasingly competitive particularly since it cracked the top 50 of the US News list.

I think that virtually all colleges have the policy that if you're rejected for an entering class, you can't apply again to enter the same class. You could, however, apply again next fall, but unless your gpa or SAT increase, you're likely to get rejected again as UF -- as is the case with most state schools -- makes decisions by stats and state of residence. Also, each year until about 2011, college admissions is expected to become more competitive due to the increasing numbers of students applying. UF doesn't do interviews.

Your best bet at getting into UF probably is to go to another college and transfer or reapply next year after significantly raising your SAT score.

However, if you think that UF may have erroneously rejected you -- which may have happened since you know others who were accepted with similar stats -- have your GC call to find out why you got rejected.

NSM, why the plateau at 2011? Just curious.

Congrats to the OP. From hearing ED decisions from my friends, I think GPA/class rank trumps SAT, though you need a decent SAT. My friend with a 1300, great ecs, upward trend got rejected probably due to low freshman year grades
