I Got In

Aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

They Called Me At 7:15 Am Today

I Am Going To Wesleyan

Dreams Do Come True

Yay

Sweet!!! Awesome job :D

See you on campus next year :P :D

Congratulations PlasticTrees!
Your admission is well-deserved, I am sure. Based on earlier threads, I know you really wanted to go to Wesleyan. What interests you most about the school? You also mentioned that you had sent in additional materials. Out of curiosity, do you think anything you sent in helped gain your acceptance?

Good luck and enjoy your time at Wesleyan. Congratulations again!

Yeah, I'm also wondering what and how much you sent and if you got people to call, etc. or if you think you filled one of their "niches." Congrats! I hope they have some more spaces...

Congratulations! Reading your post made me happy for you! I have a question: do you know how financial aid packages work if you get accepted off the waitlist?

I got in today too!!! YAY. I think it must be because I bugged them so damn much...my sis goes there and she went to the admissions office so much that the guy said she was even HURTING my chances. But i guess he lied!

Yay for both of you! I'm sure you'll be really happy there!

welcome to the phenomenon that is Wesleyan. Both of you!

Congrats guys!!

I'm reply to the people that asked about the materials I sent in, if I fit a "niche" of Wesleyan's, and other assorted questions...

First, for the financial aid person, some of my friends who needed it told me that admissions can decide whatever they want for a fin aid candidate on the waitlist, including nothing. It's a very shotty situation, from what I hear, but of course it varies based both on the person and the school.

Second, for the question on additional materials I sent in, I sent in a letter within a week of finding out that I was on the waiting list. So yes, by around April 9th I had sent out a letter to Wesleyan telling them truthfully why I believed that I was a perfect fit. In the letter I acknowldged that the waiting list is a long process but that I was grateful to still be considered for the class of 2010. I told them about current grades, awards that were won, academic interests relating to Wesleyan, social interests relating to Wesleyan, etc, and I did it all truthfully and with passion. I made sure to tell them the truth: That Wesleyan was my first choice school, and if I was admitted off of the waiting list, I would immediately accept.

And I left a message 2 weeks later for one of the associate dean of admissions who looks over the applications for my school saying that I knew the waiting list process is a difficult one, that I hoped very much to get off the waiting list, and that I hoped all was going well for him.

Third, in terms of the "niche" factor, I have thought about it, and aside from wanting me as I am, my passion about my academic interests would probably be the "niche" that was filled, though I hate to just consider myself a statistic. I am so happy that I am going to Wesleyan that I don't care if they accepted me for who knows what.

I'm going to Wesleyan. Wow. Still floating on air.

I hope that covers it for anyone that has questions, though I believe a lot of it is common sense, as long as you believe in it truthfully and passionately. Good luck to the rest of you.

Congrats! I guess I will see you there in the fall.

I was accepted off of the waitlist, too, and I got a pretty nice financial package. I actually got $10,000 more from Wesleyan than the school I was originally going to.

I havent received any email or phone call yet. Is there still hope?
