I got into N.U.in... but I said I didn't want to study abroad? Is this a false acceptance letter?

This is by no means a complaint. If Northeastern wants me to go abroad, as long as I get to go there, then that’s perfectly fine. I am just confused, because I told them I did not want to study abroad. I read an article recently about colleges that have accidentally sent acceptances to students then had to explain themselves later. I am especially concerned this could be a possibility here because I haven’t gotten a physical acceptance packet and I really did not expect to get in. I WAS able to make a myNEU account, but I don’t know if that means anything. I’m just afraid they mixed me up with somebody else who wants to study the same major or it was an error and either way I am not really admitted into the school.

I know I sound neurotic and paranoid. I totally am. I don’t want to get too excited about this because I’ve gotten rejected from two ivies and I’m really afraid of sending my deposit in, learning they don’t really want me, and missing the deposit date for the other schools that have accepted me. Did anyone else get into this program who did not apply to it?

My son checked the box that said not interested in NU In, but guess what? That’s what he was offered. He has several friends from the same high school that got the same result.

@RightCoaster okay thank you so much. I was really worried. I am very grateful and honored to be offered admission through any program at Northeastern University. I really didn’t think I would get in at all so it was a total shock to see that I got in.

Well congrats, You’re in! Just not what you asked for, lol.

We have a friend’s son who goes there, same deal as well. He’s now in his 2nd or 3rd year.

FWIW - he went off to Ireland(?) and had a great experience. Not problems at all coming back and getting integrated into campus life.

@arc918 oh, i’m not worried about that. i’m sure i’d be fine coming back from abroad. but knowing this happened to other people is so reassuring. i honestly am excited by the thought of going to England or Italy now.
