I applied to St.johns university. because i got the email from st.johns like everyday.
I didn't apply till like last minute. They said they will extend the deadline for me.
So I applied to pharmacy program. But they said its full so they can't accept me. So I got into Medical Techonology, and they gave me $10000 scholarship.
I heard st.johns is really good for pharm program. But not for the medical tech right??

and I asked them, can i trasnfer to pharm program after a year,? they said NO, its really rare.. I was like okayy
Do you think St.johns is good school for other program like me? (medical tech?)

ALso I applied to Ohio Northern university for Pharm program. I didn't know the deadline was Nov 1. But i applied there like 3 weeks ago. I called them yesterday, she said we can't accept anyone to pharm program. But you can get into Pre-med.So you can transfer after a year to pharm program.. They offer me $16000 scholarship..

Do you think which is better?? Im still looking for another acceptance letter from
other school.. But still..

So you didn't apply to any Pharmacy programs until after the deadline? ONU has a good (not great program). 1/3 of all pharmacists in Ohio come from their program. Based on the aid you would receive I think that's a good choice. I assume you are an international student?

My D is a sophomore at ONU. She is not a pharmacy major but MANY of her friends are. We and she have been extremely pleased with her education there so far - she has had many opportunities at outside major related work including paid work and internships.

Have you visited? I would definitely recommend visiting and meeting with a pharmacy rep. My D's current roommate was a Chemistry major freshman year and transferred this year to the Pharmacy program and that has not been a problem (besides, load and loads of work!) - just thought that might matter to you since you may be transferrring in....

Feel free to PM me with any genreral questions - I am happy to help if I can!

Yes, Im an international student :)
I mean i heard if I graduated from any 6 yrs pharm program. I can be a pharmacist
and school name doesn't really matter right?

I applied to MCPHS, northeastern,etc.. But didn't get any letters from them..
Im so nervous :(

Going to Ohio Northern as a pre-med and then transferring into the pharmacy program after your first year there sounds like a reasonable idea. Yes, if you earn a Pharm.D. degree, you can be a pharmacist. :) Good luck!

I'm wondering why you have applied to all these programs so late? Did you have a late decision that you want to pursue pharmacy???

ONU is a hidden gem among the bigger, more popular name schools. Several sophomore pharm students I know there are already doing paid internships at local pharms. As someone who works in a hospital-clinic setting myself, I have worked with ONU 5th-6th year students myself and they have performed top-notch in the clinical setting.

No I applied to all pharmay school like in Dec. I was done by then…
But didn’t apply to MCPHS for Early Action somehow. i don’ tknow…so Im still waiting
is there anyone who got the acceptance letter from MCPHS for regular decision??
and for ohio northern univ. U think its okay to transfer after a year to pharm program?
i mean im really curious about one thing. which is I heard someone who graduated from USP pharm program. They get paid $100000. If I graduated from ONU Pharm program, am i going to get same amount as kids who graduated from USP or MCPHS?

Your pay after graduating from ANYWHERE is going to be dependent on your school performance, experience (to get the job) and whatever the job you apply for is paying fresh out of school pharmacists.

Depends on if you get drug store placement, hospital placement, drug company placement, etc.

Just curious…why have you chosen the pharmacy field???

At this point, you’ve probably missed the deadlines for most of the “0-6” programs like SJU, MCPHS, Northeastern, ONU. MCPHS does say they accept apps to 2/1 but many, including my D, applied EA and were accepted in Dec. - maybe email admissions to check on your app and the status of their program. Your best bet would be to look at/apply for pre-pharm programs at schools with rolling admissions, take the PCAT, and apply to pharmacy school(s) after 2 years. I think some of the “2+4” schools like University of Kentucky, University at Buffalo, St John Fisher, etc. may still be accepting apps for prepharm and some of these schools do give a preference/conditional guarantee to their own students.

If your goal is pharmacy, don’t bother with the SJU offer. They will not admit you to their pharmacy program in later years and a $10K scholarship is still only 25% of their COA. If you want to be near NYC and do med tech, then maybe. But I’m sure there are other factors and schools you should consider.

Placement and starting salaries for pharmacists are high. But that’s 6 years down the road and alot of people transfer out to other programs. I’m asking my D to keep a “plan B” in the play by choosing a school with other (health related) majors just in case she changes her mind! But she’s set on starting in a guaranteed seat PharmD program for next year.

Edit: I just checked, and Albany College of Pharmacy accepts apps until 3/1. They offer a conditional guarantee.

Sk8rmom- I applied to MCPHS in Dec10, and USP is like way back in November…
I was done with applying to pharm program by Dec. I didn’t do any EA, but I applied pretty early… And I heard some people got addimiossion letter from Northeastern univ. But I just called them, they were like they are still reviewing etc…
did you go to pharm program?
