I got my dorm room assignment and I want to change it now to lower my tution cost?

One could argue that Wolman is objectively nicer than McCoy / Buildings and that McCoy / Buildings are objectively nicer the AMRs. AMRs don’t have AC which likely keeps expenses down and are in general more “industrial.” There are no elevators or anything of the like to maintain and as such the maintenance costs are probably cheaper and they can probably get more students per sq. ft. of dorm space. (Although the AMRs are amazing social wise I must say). As for aid, it doesn’t matter. You choose based on what you want. Again the price difference is relatively minimal so almost all kids choose based on what dorm they want.

You complete a housing questionairre in the spring and are paired up with a roommate over summer. You pick your first choice dorm (and 2 others I believe) and then they sort based on that. Most people get their first choice, but some get a different dorm. It’s a pretty straightforward process and the housing office does a pretty good job of picking roommates. I was / am happy with my assignment. Good luck!

Each dorm is designed differently, have different dimensions, have different set-ups, and have different amenities – hence different prices.

Freshmen are able to state their preferences in dorm selection as was described. Most students will receive one of their first two preferences.

Daniel, we love you.

Living in crappy dorms are the stuff of college memories; but, mice is mice-- the AMRs need to be bulldozed into history.
