I got my letter!!

Ahh, I just got my physical acceptance letter to both the University and the Honors Program!! My family and I are estatic. I am the first in my family to go to college and this my first acceptance letter so it's a huge day for us! :)
Also, Peggy Allen from the Honors Program called me the other day to invite me to meet up with Honors, the Civic Leadership Center, and Human Rights Center next month to talk and to help me with my non-profit I'm starting! The FSU staff give me so much personal attention, especially considering the size of the school. Needless to say, FSU has went up as probably my top choice for in-state now!
I want to thank everyone on this board for all the helpful tips and incite on the University and wherever I end up, I wanna just thank you guys for all the help with making my college process easier!

hey, congrats, me 2! high five! lol, i've also found fsu's administration to be great , and its now at the top of my list for florida. im actually working on a non-profit now as well, and its awesome that they wanna help you. wats ur non-profit going to be for? :-)

FSU really loves students who want to give back through service to the community like both of you. You both sound like fantastic young people and I wish you the best wherever your path leads you.

thanks cybermom! you're always so helpful and encouraging on this board. :-)

Congrats!!! I haven't received my official letter yet, but I'm eagerly awaiting it! I've also found that the people at FSU have been really helpful and courteous in this whole process.

I remember when I got my first acceptance letter... actually my admin rep called me to tell me personally. I knew I would get into that school, but it was still pretty cool. And it was even cooler to get notification from FSU and U of Minnesota, because I will be the first person in my family to go to a major and well respected research university.

I haven't received my official letter yet either. In fact, I was accepted from UCF a couple weeks ago, and still have yet to receive my letter (but ironically, I have received my app to the honors college... lol). I hope both come soon.

Congratulations on getting into the honors program.

Congratulations! :D

my D got her acceptance letter to the honor program has well!

sorry.. I made a mistake: ..."as well".

Congratulations on your acceptance!

I got it today too! Way better looking than UCF.

I'll add myself to this list (Honors acceptance as well). Is anybody having trouble emailing the Honors Enrollment form through the PDF file?

i had trouble emailing the honors form too, so i just faxed it instead. :-)

I got in too! Wasn't expecting to get into the honors college at all, it's probably my top choice now.

Honors is an excellent way to start your academic work. Congratulations!

What are the stats of those accepted to the honors college?

I would like to know the stats too. I got my letter, but no honors invitation.
I have a 1460/2120 SAT's and 3.7 UW GPA , 4.4 W. I am not sure how to compute the fsu gpa but I am pretty sure it is above a 4.0.

Standard Admission
Admission into the University Honors Program is by invitation only. Decisions about admission are based on an evaluation of the entire record that a student has submitted to Florida State University during the general admissions process. There is no separate application form for the Honors Program. Letters of invitation are sent out within two weeks of admission to the university.

Students who receive a letter of invitation generally meet the following minimum criteria:

3.9 or higher FSU-weighted high school GPA (Contact Admissions to find out your weighted FSU GPA) AND
1910 or higher SAT score (combined critical reading, math, writing) OR
29 or higher ACT score
In their letter of invitation, students will be given a password to access the on-line Honors Enrollment Form and an individualized acceptance deadline.

To participate in the Honors Program, invited students must submit the Honors Enrollment Form by the deadline date on their invitation letter.

Admission by Petition
Students who are accepted into FSU but who do not receive a letter of invitation may petition for admission to the Honors Program by submitting a petition portfolio. Successful applicants generally meet at least TWO of the following three requirements, though meeting these requirements alone does not guarantee admission:

3.7 or higher FSU-weighted high school GPA (Contact Admissions to find out your weighted FSU GPA)
A qualifying test score, which may be either 1850 on the SAT (combined critical reading, math, writing) or 28 on the ACT
Class rank in the top ten percent of their high school graduating class

The FSU gpa is only core courses so you might have just missed out. But DO petition, you will most likely receive an acceptance to the program with your SAT and GPA. It is also possible the invitation will come to your separately for Honors. But if not, apply by petition. It works. There were posts here last year about some who applied by petition and it was successful.

If you meet that criteria are you in for sure or only considered?

I think you are in for sure. My D did not request anything and she met the criteria and received an Honors College acceptance letter and package the same day her official acceptance letter came by mail.
