I just got mine today: 0

we toured PSU today & were told letters were going out...drove home only to be offered a sub Stafford...but we'll take it, and a PLUS, it's the only way ...and cross fingers & toes on local scholarships

You could always get a job to help things along.

oh, he always works, he'll get a job :)

my friend has a 14,000 EFC and got told he has to pay 30,000+. He is not going now.

i got about 14k in aid but about 2k is under "federal loan" (i'd have to pay it back, right?) I was very fortunate because my EFC is extremely low... however that still means i need to make up 10k. so i can't go there~ money money money...

Yep, I can be added to the "I got screwed!" list. Penn State gave me a whooping 2600 LOAN. That means I need to play 30k out of my pocket. Cross it off my list and now wait for the other offers.

I think my fin aid letter was titled "Congratulations, if you come here, you'll leave in debt $80,000!"

yeah i had a around a 12-13,000 EFC and I got one $2600 loan from them. In contrast, I got that much just in work study from Syracuse which is probly where I'll go.

lol is this just this year for PSU being this bad?

PSU sucks...they expect people to pay 36,000 to go to a school that is not great. No thanks, I'll go to Rutgers and save 18,000 dollars.

I think it is rediculous. I knew the price before I applied so I can't complain but really do they think they are worth 32,000? Its not that it isn't a great school. Its that they take 30,000+ students and still expect those prices? They need to shave about 5-6000 off the price because with all those students they shouldn't be asking for a private school price. Private schools offer attention which penn state does not and that is why one could justify spending that $$

PSU is not 36, it is 30.... Rutgers is a great school but Penn State is def at par or may exceed Rutgers in prestige

Hammy, you made me laugh :) I had the same letter LOL

I'm an oddball. My son wants to go to PSU, dang Lehigh never said anything yet, so we'll get loans for him. Everyone I know left college with loans, including me, and my son won't be different. He knows it's the only way he can go. And he has worked since he was 14, he doesn't mind a challenge.

There was a minor problem with my fafsa, stupid mistake. Because of it I will get my package in a week or so. I hope it doesn't effect the money I get, you know instead of a 2000 loan i'll get a 1000 loan... that would be horrible.

My EFC is below 1500, I am poor and i need money.

Wow, I feel bad for you guys. I got $3500 in finaid and my EFC is close to 43k. I'd gladly give this loan to somebody else if I could(I already have a full Braddock scholarship).

I know someone witha 92,000 EFC that got more aid than my friend at 14000.

wow, thats crazy. my efc is crazy low. but i dont know.... big decision to make. 10k x 4years in debt....DONTT KNOWW

i read somewhere that penn state is the number 1 most expensive public university in the country! (followed by a close second by Pitt)

Actually I believe U Mich is the most expensive for out of state students.
