Dorm hall assignments came out over the weekend and I got stuck in PAR. :(

I have no idea how cause it wasn't even in my top six choices. I put all four combinations of the six pack (double/triple & north/south) and then both combos for ISR as my lowest two.

I went ahead and filled out the request hall change form no more than two hours after the decision came out.

What are my odds of getting my preferred dorm (something in the six pack)?

Should I be worried about staying in PAR since virtually all of my classes will be in the engineering quad (freshman going into computer engineering)?

There is nothing wrong with PAR other than it is an old building which is true of every dorm save one (Nugent). Also, it has had some recent renovations (dining hall redone, new furniture in the rooms) Only some of your classes will be in the engineering quad. Math, chem, rhetoric, and gen ed courses will be in the main quad. It is somewhat of a walk to classes but not overwhelming except when it is very cold, and busses are availabe. Do not know possible success of dorm change but would not bet much money on it at this time.

Thanks for the reply drusba.

Thanks to various credits and testing out of classes I’m currently set to not have to take freshman composition or any math classes (already took care of Calc 3 and ODE). I’ll probably still have a couple gen ed classes to do as a graduation requirement, but other than that it looks like the vast majority of my classes will be in the Engineering Quad.

It’s good to hear that PAR is an ok dorm in case I do get stuck there. Pretty much everyone I know had the same housing choices as me and got the six pack just like they wanted. Guess I might have to make do with making even more new friends than I thought I would (nothing wrong with that).

I’m in the same position as you but I got Oglesby on Florida St. It might be nice because it has A/C but I put in a change request immediately.

I’m stuck in FAR too…Trelease. Saw the e-mail and was instantly disappointed; all my friends got in the six pack. Good luck everyone on changing, haha.

I’m at PAR too (Carr hall). I was told there’s a bus every 15 mins (Teal, iirc) that goes from right in front of PAR to Siebel, which is great for me since I’m in CS, but it’s also near the engineering campus in general.

Stuck in FAR as well. I’m going to stay; two close friends of mine got stuck at FAR and PAR and it might do me some good to walk or bike a few miles a day.

I also got stuck at PAR, does this mean I should kiss my social life goodbye?

DS got PAR too. Did you guys get assigned to an LLC too? He didnt’ apply to any LLC but was assigned to Intersections. Strange.

No LLC for me, but I did not apply for it. That is strange that he was assigned it even without applying. Could be an easy way to get into a different dorm.

oh, why would it become an easy way to get into a diff dorm?

Just got the call yesterday from the housing office about by request to change dorms.

The lady was really nice and even pointed out that I was one of the first ones to turn the form in, so there is a chance I could be moved to the six pack.

She also said it takes them 4-6 weeks to process the requests and I most likely won’t get the final confirmation email for at least a month.
