<p>SO right now the waitlist for Stankova (for Math 54) is full at 50 people, despite that only 375 out of the maximum capacity of 449 are enrolled. My other option is to take Math 54 with Teleman, whose lecturing skills are supposedly beyond horrible. </p>
<p>I tried to see if EE42 or CS70 were open (I'm a CS major), but they were full as well, and more pact than math 54. </p>
<p>Should I take math 54 with Teleman, or wait till next semester? Is his class/exams impossible hard? Why is he horrible? What are the chances of me getting into Stankova (there's not even space on the waitlist)?</p>

<p>Haven’t had him, but general consensus seems to be that he’s not a very good lecturer and sometimes gives too much homework.</p>
<p>Also, CS70 only has 60 people waitlisted, and at least this semester they tried pretty hard to get everyone into the class, so you may have a chance at that one.</p>
<p>I took math 54 with Teleman as a freshman in Spring 2011. He is by far the worst lecturer that I’ve had at Berkeley, but his homework and exams were quite reasonable I thought. The book was also excellent. But despite understanding the material and doing very well on exams, I hardly understood a word he said in lecture (lol). So basically, if you take the class with him you’ll have to teach yourself the material (or learn it in a group with some friends), but if you do that you’ll be fine because the grading side of the course is reasonable.</p>
<p>What about only going to discussion and going to Stankova’s lecture instead? That’s what I want to do, but I’m not sure if it will work out in the end…</p>
<p>Actually that sounds like a really good idea. The semester I took it, the other professor (Ming Gu) was equally bad, so I didn’t have that option. You should definitely go to Stankova’s lectures if they’re good.</p>
