Hey guys...it has been a pretty bleak weekend so far with the UC Davis waitlist and UCSD rejection. Results for UCSB are coming out on Tuesday and I am very scared because I really wanted to attend a UC. I already got into Cal Poly SLO for materials engineering, but what I really want to study is chemical engineering, which CPSLO does not have. Do you guys think I have a chance, or should I expect another rejection and just go to CPSLO for MATE?

Unweighted GPA:3.46 UC Weighted: 3.78 Fully weighted: 4.08
SAT I: 2130 (800M, 610R, 720 W)
SAT II Chem: 800 SAT Math II:730
Extracurricular are decent, but not outstanding
Essays were average to slightly above average from what I have been told.

i think you have a decent chance. your SAT scores are high for UCSB. are you in state? if so, what is your school’s API? (i wonder if your low GPA is the result of grades deflation). for some reason, UCs value GPA more than test scores.

that’s why. the API score at your school is extremely high. it is too bad that your gpa is not as high as those whose SAT scores are in the same range. i think you are in. good luck.

don’t count SB out yet-I was also weight listed at Davis and rejected from UCSD, but I got into UCSB honors and am now a student here! Just wait and see. And if you don’t get in, you’d still have an excellent experience at SLO-all my friends who go there absolutely LOVE it so I think you’ll be fine either way!!

Same exact situation here… Waitlisted at Davis and rejected from UCSD. Nervous does not correctly convey how I feel. Anxiety is killing me. Do you guys think I can get in with a 1730 SAT I score? 3.8 uc gpa. Ok essays and pretty active ec’s?
