and my interviewer told me i was one of the best she ever interviewed. but will a great rec from an interviewer honestly impact one way or another my admissions decision??

could you give some advice then, what do you think you did that made it so good?

What kind of questions did she ask?

it will definitely help, but it’s not as important as some of the other aspects on your app

also, tell us what made you do great!!!

to be honest, i just kept it casual and i used my humor to my benefit. i never really practiced for an interview (which was pretty stupid because I <3 georgetown) but I just highlighted a few things on my resume and demonstrated how those things make me a good fit for gtown

it wasnt too long…maybe 30 minutes and i did most of talking

I had my interview yesterday also. It really isn’t that bad, I think it mostly depends on the person who’s interviewing you. Luckily for me she was really nice so it was much easier for me to be friendly and talk about my interests. It seemed to me like we had a nice, friendly conversation but it was my first experience with something like this so I have no way of telling if it’s going to help my chances or not. I was pretty nervous too, but in hindsight there really isn’t any reason to worry about it. It’s seriously a regular conversation, they just want to get to know you a little. I think the main goal is to ensure that you’re a normal person and not some reclusive antisocial who studies all day and shuns human interaction.

My advice: be friendly, be courteous, be yourself … and don’t act like too much of a kiss-ass because they can see through that.

also adding to what brown14 said, if you’re applying to a specific school of Georgetown (McDonough, Nursing, or SFS) keep relating your activities, background, goals, etc. to your interest in the school where you wish to study. The lady seemed pleased whenever I was able to make a connection between items on my resume and my interest in international relations. Good luck!

how do we get our interview?

I got an e-mail telling me the contact information for my interviewer, and you contact them yourself.

I think you have to have turned in the preliminary application already.
