I hate asking for chances, but do I have a chance? (transfer)

Hi, guys

I'm currently a freshmen at Penn State-UP and I am looking to transfer because I don't necessarily like the program for my studies here. Now, I didn't do outstanding in high school: gpa: 3.5, SAT: 1800, ACT: 28. Since my grades were not so great in high school, I was thinking about just continuing here at PSU until my junior year and apply to Wesleyan if I do not like it by then. Oh, I'm looking into Film Studies and Economics if I transfer to Wesleyan. I originally wanted to go to NYU, but I was wait-listed there, so I stuck with Penn State. Penn State does not have a Film Studies major, but a minor, so I opted for Media Studies with Film option. But I really, really want to focus on film studies because I want to be a college professor.

I'm currently working hard to keep my grades up. I think I might finish my first semester with gpa of 3.8 or 3.9. How do I slowly prepare myself to be a good candidate for transfer student? How is Wesleyan for financial aid?

Thanks!

I honestly don’t know what your chances might be, but, there are a couple of things yuo should be aware of: 1) the Film Studies major requires two introductory courses that are usually taken sophomore year in order to be accepted into the program (you have to earn a B+ or better in both of them) AND 2) Wesleyan is need-aware for transfers (the aid is pretty generous once you gain admission.)

Basically, you should be preparing to submit your application by March 15th of next year, if you intend to be a film major.

Hope this helps, a little bit.
