Honors Biology is by far my worst subject. I'm not very science oriented to begin with. And my teacher is good. I have no excuse. Its just really hard for me. I have yet to get any grade above 90 and its bugging me. I studied for 3 hours and took a practice quiz and got all of them right, but I still only got a B+ on the quiz. I feel like if i can't even do good in freshman biology, then how will i be successful in chem, physics, or AP classes to come... Does anyone else struggle with this class. O yeah P.S. I also hate labs, just thank god I have a relatively smart lab partner haha..

"only a B+"....you truly are a CC member.

The Honors Biology in my school is considered on of the more difficult classes. Especially for freshmen. Don't worry. Physics and Chem are different in the way you go about learning it. Don't let one class get you down.

i hate ap chem

its easy but its sooooo boring

I was sad freshman yr. when I got a 92 the first marking period in Honors Bio., the only B I got that marking period and by one point...I learned last year that there are much more horrific things in life...Oh, how I took for granted how I got a B and so many others got Cs and Ds...In time, GreenDayFan, you will cope

you think honors bio is bad.... try ap

I did great in honors bio, it was really easy for me, interesting, and I had a good teacher.

Now i'm in AP bio and boy, do i hate it, and boy, I am suffering. it is just so boring, too detailed, and my teacher is the most monotonous ever!

I'm in honors bio aswell. I came into the class thinking I was going to fail it most definately because I am not much of a science person... and I have an A average so far. :D

I think my tips to you would be basically to read ahead of the class, try and do your work on the weekend, so the week you dont have to bog yourself down with homework and reading. Just listen during class, and take down notes that you missed when you read the subject on your own.

Also, make an effort to learn the latin/greek roots for many biology words, that would tremendously help your vocab. Whenever the teacher introduces a new word/vocab, ask him what each part of the word means, and jot it down. If he doesn't know, then search it on the net.

Also, if you review your past notes every day atleast 15 minutes you shouldn't have to do 3 hours of studying before the test. If you take time to grasp the concept, most of it is logic. If one thing goes it, another comes out, like a balance. Keep those in mind when you learn new concepts.

Anyways, good luck, be sure to let us know how you do!

"then how will i be successful in chem, physics, or AP classes to come... "

chem + physics don't have as much as rote memo. if you're in calculus and physics at the same time, no sweat!

the history aps follow a similar format. frqs = how much you know about the subject already. dbqs = how well you can interpret info.

english aps - you can do well even if you dont have great teachers (or heck, ANY teachers). i should know.

dont sweat it! in the mean time, talk to your biology teacher - ask for studying tips so youre not sitting there for three hours. give yourself a foundation of some terms you should know and outline processes! outline outline!

I got a D in biology but got an A- in Chem Honors now

biology is a useless subject. and my biology teacher is a whore. someone told me she used to be a stripper. no joke. it's easy, but the teacher has erratic inclinations, for example giving use pop quizzes before we are familiar with a new concept. biology blows especially as we learn about useless things like photosynthesis and cellular respiration.

you've got to be kidding me, seth blue. my freshman bio teacher also used to be a stripper!

To GreenDayFan-
The people before me have offered great advice, especially A-san.
I'm not a science person and hated freshman bio despite the A, but i'm loving AP bio this year, even though I'm getting a B+. Our tests are really tricky.

No offense to you Bio-lovers. I find it boring.

Environmental science is the way to go :D

I wasn't much of an honors bio person, I think I got A-/B+... but now I love Bio and I'm in AP. Well if you don't like it then this'll be your last year. And like others said, chem and physics are very different.

Please smile b/c AP biology is alot worse. =)

Thanx for advice. we dont find our homework ahead of time, so cannot so it on weekend. also, i have trouble keeping up with the reading already, but ill try reading ahead on weekends, since ill neva have the time during the school week. we dont do much with vocab, its mostly applying concepts.

You're definatly not the only one who hates bio. I love my teacher, but the subject itself is just a snooze. I do the work, but it's hard to keep up with everything, especially actually understanding all the concepts that are being thrown at you. Good luck!

im a math/science person (more so Math+Physics)... but i didnt like Biology... yuck...
